Guest guest
I just got off the phone with my daughter's pediatricans office. I had requested a meeting with her ped to discuss putting her on fish oil. They called and said that her ped had no knowledge of fish oil, what dose to put her on, or had no idea who to even refer her to for this...I can't help but think the ped thought we were a little " out there " from the tone of the call. Our therapist is excellent and does ERP therapy, but cannot prescribe medications. She has tossed the idea of putting our daughter on an SSRI, but understands our hesitance in doing this---especially when we haven't tried one of the more " natural " approaches. She is very open to the fish oil concept, but again, cannot prescribe or follow this. My daughter's diet is not the best. She refuses many veggies and fruits. I would like to try the supplement and see if it makes any difference...before trying the SSRI. She's young, age 8. Her anxiety goes straight to her stomach, diarrhea, cramps, ect...Heck, I even wondered if she was sensitive to gluten. Her ped put her on Miralax and treated her more for the " constipation " . Ped said that if she was sensitive to gluten, she would be losing weight. Anyone in the Charlotte, NC area know of someone that I could go to monitor my child on fish oil, ped is obviously not open to these ideas. I'm at a loss right now. Time is of the essence before school starts again. Thanks for listening.
