Guest guest
I'm not aware of any 'special' school specifically for Asperger kiddos in PA. I used to live near Gettysburg... and the entire special Ed dept. was through the local LIU. Only schools I was aware near to what you are describing were Residential schools...and this was not an option in my eyes. Is there a local Autism support group around you? I thought these groups were high informed of all the 'outside' options...at least in Southern PA they were. Sorry can't be of more help... like I said the only schools I was aware of that had specific disabilities were something like the Deveroux (sp?) schools. Guest guest
I hadn't heard of any either, but someone said that there were a few in central and upper bucks county, but I can't seem to find anything on that. Residential is not an option, although i will admit, I did think about it. I just couldn't part with my son. He is a large handful, and his sisters get a lack of attention because of it, but I couldn't send him away, I would feel like I was punishing him. As some of you know, its not easy raising a child with Asperger's and ADHD on your own. But I will cope. I just don't want him to get lost in the cracks of the Philadelphia School System. He is smart and high functioning, and the school he is in doesn't have the resources he needs. I am going to battle with the school district soon, and I just wanted some names of possible schools I could try for. Thank you.
