Subject: Please help ... does my CFS means Circulating Fermented Saline?

> Re; more details per our phone conversation earlier today

>

> Dear Ilena,

>

> How can I find out if my CFS, in reality, spells out Circulating Fermented

> Saline?

>

> McGhan saline implants, 1995. Originally an 'A' cup, I went to a 'D'

during

> pregnancy. After nursing, I was left with 'A' internal mass in 'D'

external

> capacity. 'Pendulous' was an understatement. Add a very uneven,

extra-wide,

> dark C-section scar and stretch marks so extensive that I've got them on

my

> calves and arms...I felt disfigured, as if I'd been in a massive accident.

>

> The surgery allowed me to like my body again and in turn, my self-esteem

> improved.

>

> My health, however, has declined, most significantly over the last 12

> months...

>

> Symptoms:

> Lack of energy/feeling 'exhausted' even with adequate sleep/rest since

last

> December. Prior to then, I worked as many as 3 jobs at a time, in addition

to

> being a single parent of 2 elementary school-aged children.

>

> Acute physical response to emotional/mental stress. The reaction time is

> fairly immediate, comparable to something akin to a deflated balloon and

> often 'knocks me out' for 1-4 days. During these 'down times' I sleep

> excessively and awake, can barely even sit up. Despite very strong coping

> skills, I'm presently experiencing this on a weekly basis.

>

> A bothersome - though not painful - sensation along the lower half of my

> spine that comes and goes. The best way to describe it is some type of

> inflammation and it always precedes a significant decrease in

> mental/cognitive functioning. I discovered 3 Advil helped reduce this and

am

> now on Celebrex, a COX2 inhibitor, which seems somewhat helpful.

>

> The cognitive impairment most noticeably affects my ability to write. I

work

> as a trade journalist/marketing consultant so this is a big problem for

me.

> It's a little different from how I'd describe writer's block, which I

define

> as not knowing what to write or where to start with a writing task. Most

of

> the time, I know what I want to say but transferring the words from my

mind

> to the keyboard or pen is unbelievably difficult - they seem to get 'lost'

> between point A and B. Again, there's a distinct correlation between my

> emotional/mental states and my ability to perform. High-pressure projects

> that I once sailed through now seem nearly impossible. Speaking ability is

> much less impacted and for the most part, generally 'transition' related -

> 'shifting into gear' from being engaged in one thing but then

> disrupted/distracted by another might take a few minutes but then my

ability

> to focus returns to normal.

>

> Hair loss. A good dose of stress causes this. On 2 or 3 occasions since

> December, I have lost all or nearly all eyelashes from one of my upper

> eyelids although the lower lashes of the same eye remain stable. Cosmetics

> are not a factor. Additionally, I have patches of short hair in certain

area

> of my scalp, obvious new growth.

>

> Change in acne. Frequency is the same, usually connected to my hormonal

cycle

> but there seems to be a disruption in the healing process. It can take 8

> weeks for what started out as a pimple to clear up. Additionally, the

process

> itself is different. Typically, the pimple ruptures and scabs over but a

> yellowish fluid accumulates under it. The spot becomes inflamed which

seems

> to further stimulate the production of this fluid and extends the diameter

of

> the affected spot. I now have approx. 15 round, crater-like scars of

varying

> diameter and depths on my face, with 2 severe ones between my eyebrows, 4

on

> my left cheek and 1 on the right side of my chin. These scars measure

between

> 4-10mm across and up to 2-3mm deep.

>

> Swollen lymph nodes throughout my body for more than 4 years. A biopsy was

> done 3 years ago and I was told the pathology report (from Mayo Clinic)

> offered no explanation. No pain involved but if one is rubbed too hard,

such

> as during an examination or from tight clothing, the pressure somehow

> generates a residual, localized muscular weakness. It sets in several

hours

> later and lasts a few days to a week.

>

> Low grade fevers. I get them regularly.

>

> Night sweats. Not sheet-soaking though and the low grade fevers are more

> frequent.

>

> After extensive reading, my symptoms seemed to most closely match those of

> SLE. Last Spring, I had been prescribed a 30-day round of 10mg(?)

prednisone

> for something unrelated (structural sinus issues) and felt better while

> taking it. I don't know for certain if this means anything, one way or

> another.

>

> I finally decided to see a rheumatologist in August - lab results from

that

> visit are listed below. An ANA test came back negative but I was not given

> additional statistics.

>

> Following that visit - which I initiated on my own - my doctor sent me

back

> to an internal medicine specialist I'd seen 4 years ago. They've now

> diagnosed me as having CFS...

>

> Any help in educating myself about possible links between silicone/saline

and

> what's going on with my health would be most greatly appreciated.
