Guest guest
A couple things stand out for me about this study... To start with, I could not find it in a peer reviewed publication. Perhaps I did not phrase my google query properly, but all I could find it in were sites with a biased slant, like leftbrainrightbrain. Perhaps it is in the process of publication and one of the authors released preliminary findings in non-traditional media. If any do have a " proper " link, please forward it. Next, I see that the authors created their own testing instrument to use, instead of using the commonly used tests like CARS and GARS. I have to ask why? I also have to ask if any independant persons who are knowledgable looked at their homegrown test to ensure that it is a valid instrument to use. Most importantly, though they tout finding 7 children who meet the standard for autism, they do not tell you what birth cohort, what level of functioning they are, and most importantly, despite mentioning gathering vaccination history of ALL children tested, they do not mention the vaccination status of the 7 Autists they found. The implications of this are profound. I recall back when Olmstead first published his piece about autism and the Amish there was a blurb from the CDC about them trying to " reach out " to isolated population like the Amish to gather them into the fold of vaccine compliance (for the herd's sake, of course). So... If the 7 children this proported study found were all vaccinated, well you do not have to be an actuary for the insurance industry to see that that would be highly significant statistically (as well as mathematically). If the vaccinated were full-blown autsitic and the unvaccinated were Aspie that would raise a different concern - that very HFA may be a " natural state of being " but some individuals with susceptibility were damaged by vaccination into regressing to a much lower state of functioning (which I personally believe may indeed be the case for many individuals). It will be interesting to see how this preliminary blurb morphs should it ever show up in a peer-review publication, and evenmore to see how Pediatrics will spin it.
