Guest guest
Well, I didnt expect these lovely replies!! thank you very much!! I am sorry the chat room isnt used, as it is a great way for people to 'talk' to each other together instead of seperatly, (and I am pretty slow if writing to 2 different people, in 2 different boxes! ) My daughter is 14 next week, but she was only diagnosed as autistic 4 years ago, after having her first nervous breakdown, due to Post- Traumatic-Stress-Sydrome, up until then she had been mildly autistic, but not diagnosed! actually her dianosis was.....'a naughty child, with behaivioural problems' ( As most parents know, that word to this day still 'cuts' through me! Im sorry I dont have much time to write more, but I will be online later, I hope to chat to you soon!! best wishes michelle x
Guest guest
if you dont mind me asking: what do you feel cause her post traumatic stress symptoms? my girl was in an orphanage for her first 3 yrs of life and doctors also mentioned post traumatic stress sydrome to us years ago we have learned that having a behaviorist work with us in our home and medication management really does help her with her behaviors and gives us much more confidence and knowledge on techniques to use when she has behavioral problems. my girl is a gentle spirit, her behaviors are always directed upon herself and not others / but it is so very hard to watch her hurting herself/ if she becomes overwhelmed or too excited or upset, she takes her hands and bangs on her head or pinches herself-part of this is due to the fact that she has limited verbal skills-but now that she has some sign language and also the communication board to carry around with her-she is beginning to use them in place of the behaviors must go and put Alina on the school bus and walk the dog(miniature schnauzer & we just adopted him from the humane society for alina's 13th birthday) she is learning to walk the dog after school and feed him and give him snacks and to see them bonding is wonderful. good morning to all in this group lets keep our conversations going and maybe if we all post a certain time and certain chat room to go to and announce it on this site then we can all go over to the chat room at a particular time and chat lets give that a try sometime let me know if anyone is interested in that idea bye for now i will check back this afternoon i usually read this everymorning and then around 1pm in the afternoon its a good group and very interesting to read everyone elses messages ~heidi~ melbourne florida Wow !!!
