You may also want to make sure she is getting adequate magnesium. It relaxes the airway and makes it less reactive.

Having gone through the whole asthma thing with my NT daughter when she was four........ I took my daughter off of refined sugar and flour (those were the allergens causing the severe cough which was misdiagnosed as asthma) and my daughter went off of her inhaler, thank God, within only three months.

Best advice....... find out what her triggers are. Look for a homeopath or naturopath to help with this work and stay far away from pharmaceutical drugs. Your child probably does not have asthma....... she just has allergies.

My 7 yr old daughter was recently diagnosed with asthma and her doctor wants to put her on Singulair. I looking it up and there are many cases in which it has caused serious mood and behavioral swings in children. I called the pharmacy to ask and they said that Merck makes it and that less than .5% of people in the tests described these symptoms. I asked her where she was reading that and she said " Clinical Pharmacology. " When I questioned who puts out the information, she replied it, " It is the gold standard of pharmaceutical information. " Their website is www.goldstandard.com.

I am just curious if anyone has any experience with Singulair for asthma in children. And/or also, is " Clinical Pharmacology " information put out by Big Pharma?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

My child had a horrible reaction to Singulair. He literally did not sleep for 3

days, and was aggressive and violent and hyper and completely out of control.

The doctor said those behaviors are listed as " possible adverse reactions " . This

was years ago when I still used pharmaceuticals and conventional medicine. Since

then, I read an article somewhere about doctors or a facility (I'm thinking in

the SW) where the doctors were busted for fudging data on adverse reactions, and

Singulair was one of the drugs that they had studied. I was so furious when I

read that!

For my son asthma cleared up when we treated yeast, changed his diet, started

correcting the inflammation in his body, and interestingly started classical

homeopathy and using CST.

My son was irritable and aggressive on it. This was before the warnings came

out. I took him off, because that was the only thing we had changed, and those

behaviors resolved almost immediately. That said, my son also has mitochondrial

dysfunction which makes him intolerant to many medications, including steroids

for his asthma. People who do not suffer the side effects say it works well to

control their asthma. It did not help my son's asthma at all. The side effects

are also listed in the manufacturer's insert under reported side effects in

actual use.
