Guest guest
I just talked to a mom of a six wk old who had a bout of mastitis at week 3, overlapping to be bilateral, who got a Zpak as treatment. And now it's back...argh! Has anyone ever determined that a Z-pack for mastitis is appropriate?
Guest guest
Dear lee: The protocol on mastitis from the Academy of Breastfeeding medicine doesn't mention azithromycin/Z-pak as one of the suggested antibiotics. http://www.bfmed.org/Resources/Protocols.aspx Margaret Wills, land
Guest guest
Thanks Margaret...I did get a reply from Nice, RPH and will upload his revised algorithm he sent me and has allowed me to share...he does show azythromycin higher up the list, but only for someone allergic to the others preferred...Cheers, lee >
