Guest guest
It's my understanding that the recommended antibiotic would be something that takes care of staff. - Subject: Z packTo: Date: Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 12:22 AM I just talked to a mom of a six wk old who had a bout of mastitis at week 3, overlapping to be bilateral, who got a Zpak as treatment. And now it's back...argh! Has anyone ever determined that a Z-pack for mastitis is appropriate?
Guest guest
I was able to find LACTNET archives post from Nice, RPH - He posted a mastitis Antibiotic Algorithm, which put azithromycin way down at 6th on the list of 8 groups of antibiotics - you'll find it at LACTNET post #102826 / Tue, 3 Jul 2001 I think what happened was the NP heard "sinus infection" which mom had also, and treated for it, thinking it might cover both...obviously not the best first choice.... Thanks for your input - lee
