Guest guest
I wanted to hear from parents who have (or had) children on Clonidine and their experiences. I have an 8 year old boy with Tourettes, OCD and ADD. We currently have him on Luvox which helps with anxiety. We tried Haldol in the past for the Tourettes with bad side effects. We just tried Strattera for the ADD and that didn't work. Now our psychiatrist is recommending we try Clonidine for the ADD. I also understand that it may help with Tourettes. We clearly don't want to over medicate our child. We are trying whatever we can at this stage to see what works, if anything. So I'm interested to hear from other people's experiences. Guest guest
Hi Glenn, My 12 yr old daughter took clonidine from ages 9-11. My personal experience with her on it was that it helped her to sleep. It did not help her OCD or ADHD. She also had tics, but they were from being on antipsychotics, rather than tourettes. The clonindine didnt' help her tics. Just because this didn't do much for my dd does not mean that it won't work with your son. Just my experience Best Wishes judy ________________________________ To: Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2009 12:51:05 PM Subject: Any experiences with Clonidine I wanted to hear from parents who have (or had) children on Clonidine and their experiences. Guest guest
My son has been on clonidine a couple of times, and the only problem is the drowsiness it causes. We gave it at bedtime. His blood pressure was OK on it. Bonnie > > I wanted to hear from parents who have (or had) children on Clonidine and their experiences. > > I have an 8 year old boy with Tourettes, OCD and ADD. Guest guest
Glenn, My son takes Clonidine and it really helps his Tourette's.(tics). He also takes Zoloft for OCD. I think the Clonidine helps him the best. It helps him sleep.
