Guest guest
ooooooooosh sounds like a repeat of conversations here in the last 3 weeks! to the tee! When I mentioned we have 'responsibility' issues that he still can't handle like hygiene, picking up after one's self, getting up on time etc he goes ballistic. So he took it up with his IN-home staff; gee.... he got pissed cause the conversation took the same route! LOL hmmmm must mean sumfin Congrats on the prom....glad she had the experience... and mom survived! DES ps.. still have both IEP's up in the clouds. I'm fighting like a tiger on these. Hopefully over before june? LOL
Guest guest
The district coordinator thinks we need to push her to attend at least one regular education class next year though. I don't like that idea but won't spend the year worrying about it. I'll do that next spring. LOL Maralee, I agree with you, I think this is a really bad idea. I don’t get the coordinators rational. I hope it’s not for “socialization” or to get used to the “real world”. The transition idea at the school she is now attending is good, this is other idea is bull…. Guest guest
hi Gail... that's EXACTLY what the school district coordinator said .."She needs to get out into the real world....she can't be 'sheltered' all her life..." something to that effect anyway. ARGHGHG. Like I said, I'm not going to worry about it until next spring. Then I'll go prepared! (Why do they think she's in that school to start with? There's a REASON she's there.) It could take us months of getting her back to her structured routine if we upset the apple cart. I think she thinks she's made much progress so they want to try to 'mainstream' her back to the public school. They just don't get it. They don't understand our kids; they don't live with them; but they think they know all there is to know. Let's enjoy and applaud the progress; not try to stop it! maralee (sigh) -----Original Message-----From: Gail Africa Sent: Monday, May 03, 2004 4:08 PMTo: autism-aspergers Subject: RE: independent thinking The district coordinator thinks we need to push her to attend at least one regular education class next year though.
