Hi there,

My name is Jenn, I just joined the group. Ever since I started on

Effexor two years ago, I have done nothing but gain weight. I walk,

eat healthy and I still gain. I can't seem to lose any weight at all.

To make matters worse, I just had a baby four months ago. I would like

to switch to a new anti depressent (one that won't cause weight gain).

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Jenn

Hello Jenn..I gained about 40 lb over one summer, got high blood pressure

and 'fatty liver', along with all kinds of aches and pains, so switched to

welbutrin. It seemed ineffective so I finally went cold turkey off

everything in Jan of this year. I haven't managed to lose the weight but

have stopped gaining at least! Congratulations on your new little one! Is

this the first baby for you? Probably the first six months of this life

altering new relationship is not a good time to change medications...just a

thought. Good luck...Martha

Hi Jenn,Most antidepressants can cause weight gain in some.If you are exercising at the same level prior to taking the drugthen it must be you have increased your calorie intake (unlessyou are retaining fluids). If you reduce your calorie intake (while maintaining) abalanced diet you will lose weight. In particular it is importantto cut out saturated fats and especially no trans fats.If Effexor is working for you apart from the weight gain I wouldn'tbe trying others but would concentrate on lowering calorie intakeand increasing exercise.Good luckDeus_Abscondis> "Jenn" wrote>> Hi there,> > My name is Jenn, I just joined the group.
