RELEASE : HUNGER STRIKE AGAINST FORCED

FLUORIDATION OF MT GAMBIER WATER - NOW 2 WEEKS

Mt Gambier resident Young has now been

on a hunger strike outside the Mt Gambier - Blue Lake Water Supply

Pumping Station for the last fortnight .

is protesting SA Health Minister

– Hill’s decision to forcibly fluoridate the

public water supply of Mt Gambier residents, despite over one third of the

adult population of Mt Gambier requesting a choice by way of Referendum or

Poll.

Despite 6, 661 adults signing

petitions asking for a Referendum on Fluoridation , when SA Health

Minister Hill responded to Mr Peglar, the member

for Mt Gambier who presented the petition to Parliament, Minister

Hill totally ignored the issue that people had requested a choice .

the Health Minister did not refer once to such a significant

proportion of the Mt Gambier population of 25,000 persons stating that

they wanted a choice in fluoridation

Mr Young has stated that in 5 years ,

the South Australian Dept of Health has refused to have a full, open and

correctly run public consultation with Mt Gambier residents.

Mt Gambier residents to support Mt Gambier Choice Day by visiting

him at the Blue Lake Water Supply Pumping Station this Sunday 15th

August from 1.30 pm . Extra Petitions will be available.

While we applaud Young for

his courage and tenacity, we are very concerned for his well being

with this extended hunger strike and we implore Health Minister

Hill, assisting Health Minister Conlon and Premier Mike Rann to

listen to and to the 6, 661 Mt Gambier residents who want to have a

choice in whether their public water supply is fluoridated, or not.

We would

hate to see a tragedy occur, simply because the South Australia Health

Department is so determined to make every resident of South Australia

ingest fluoride via their drinking water , regardless of what the residents may

want.

The Choice Mt

Gambier Petition is valid and as there is no legislation in South

Australia to force fluoridation , the petition requesting choice, by way of

Referendum or Poll should be recognized and acted upon.
