Guest guest
Dr. Jack Thrasher PhD did some testing of our SF house, and then referred us to Chip Prokop out of Petaluma to do more IAQ testing. Also check out this link on bau biologie and Aroner (<http:// articles.sfgate.com/2005-02-18/entertainment/17358243_1_sick-building- biologie-contaminants>, <http://www.buildingconcerns.com/nocal/ indoor.htm> )who a fried of a friend recommended to me a while back, and then there is another bau biologie consultant who I met on this list.. Stadner (<http://buildingbiology.net/webpages/bbec/ stadtner.html>). Looks like Aroner is in Berkeley. I am not recommending any of these folks other than Dr. Thrasher came to our house and did a great job, took samples and the HEPF filter from our HVAC which showed long term contamination and then he referred us to Chip who also sampled. It was good, thorough, still trying to figure out how best remediate though... But, all quite expensive. In my rental house hunting I will try a less expensive approach to rule in or out different properties of interest, and then may to more extensive testing on a place we move to for ensuring it is safe.. good luck, it's complicated. sue >who do i contact to get my indoor air quality tested here in Oakland >CA? Guest guest
CHECK THIS OUT, this is a listing for an eco apartment, although when I called, they say they have never had mold problems or done any mold testing, so that's a big ??? but still it's going in the right direction. click on the link to saferbuilding in this ad and it will take you to another bay area inspection company, don't knwo them, not recommending, just passing on info I stumbled across... sue <http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/apa/1821057293.html> and then within that link is a link to " saferbuilding " .... <http://www.saferbuilding.com/blog/ >>> >who do i contact to get my indoor air quality tested here in Oakland >CA? Guest guest
Writing on this topic again, I'm not sure I was clear. Dr. Thrasher was extremely helpful to us, I would use him again if he was available (he is based in Sacramento and does work all over the country I believe, he was kind enough to come into the city, spent a lot of time at our house, more than planned, to make sure he did the right and thorough job, his services weren't expensive, it's the testing that is expensive, and then he referred us to CHip Prokop an IAQ tester for additional testing, we were trying to identify anything that might help understand my sick son's health picture more than anything, make sure there weren't any weird lurking bacteria or something that might be contributing to his illness that the docs hadn't found yet... . I think it was very clever to take and test the HEPA filter (which had been in place for a couple years) and test it for molds, mycotoxins, bacteria, really gave a good long term picture.... (well actually a bad long term picture!, but this testing helped tie together the mycotoxins in our bodies from Realtimes Lab testing to the molds that produce these mycotoxins in our home). If you own your home or plan to stay a while, and can afford extensive testing, his thoroughness is worth the money. Otherwise, something like the ERMI testing that recommends is less expensive, you can do it yourself thru Mycometrics and I am sure there are other labs, any lab recommendations from the experts out there? thanks, Sue ---------------- Begin Forwarded Message ---------------- Subject: Re: [] Re: Indoor Air Quality- who can do testing in CA??
