Guest guest
When I see parents I bring a folder of information that they will likely need. I have a standard ‘set’ of handouts, all neatly tucked away in a folder with my name, business name and contact info on the front of the folder and on every handout. J I got the handouts from mom – great information – lots of handouts that you can purchase the rights to then print as many as needed. I think she is still doing that…I have about 25 or 30 I think – I use about 10 in the folder – most from mom and a couple others. My folder contains the following: (in this order) Receipt for service Consent Form Pre/post weight sheet (documents BB’s dob, birth wt, lowest wt, current age, notes and pre/post wts during the session) Breastfeeding Care Plan (my own design – personalized notes for each mom – NO cookie-cutter notes with boxes checked) Using Baby’s Body Language to Tailor Breastfeeding (Beverly ) – FABULOUS! Position and Attachment – Ros Escott (best one I have personally found) Breastfeeding Log wk 1 (wk 2-6 on other side) – mom Hunger Cues – mom Suggestions to arouse a Sleepy Baby – Zeretzke (love this one – I take it out if baby is not in need of this) Cluster Feeding and Fussy Evenings – mom Great Books for Parents – my own list organized into Breastfeeding, Parenting and Other Is baby getting enough/human milk storage (quick reference) – mom ---------------------------------- This tends to cover most of the basic early concerns parents may have. It gives them some good things to look at (in their spare time! LOL!) and I let them know that they can call me if they need anything or have a question. I chose these as I wanted to give the most important info and also didn’t want to overload them (or me with printing costs). It works and the parents LOVE having everything neatly tucked into the folder that they can find easily. I also go so far as to give them different colors of folders to choose from – or if there is a toddler or older child in the house – let them choose the color! Anyway – there you have it. J Hope it helps… Warmly, Jaye Jaye Simpson, IBCLC, CIIM Breastfeeding Network Sacramento, CA www.breastfeedingnetwork.net
Guest guest
To clarify what I am doing- All of my materials are on my website as well, I agree with about this generation. I also refer to specific sites etc during consults. My folders are for my prenatal classes. I see this as a way to not only reinforce what I am teaching based on my culture, but also as a huge marketing opportunity.
