A right to Peace? Is it true?

As I was driving to a client today this came to me and when I got

home I wrote it out and did the work, because this goes to a very

fundamental place in my Work on this huge explosion of beliefs that

has occurred in me since last Tuesday.

The Belief is: I should have a right, as an American, to peace,

safety and freedom.

Is it true? Clearly not. How do I know I should not have this

right? Every day I experience unpeaceful thoughts, unsafe situations

and barriers to my freedom, in the form of disagreement with reality,

illness or injury, financial restraints, someone simply saying " No,

you can't do that " . I was stopped for speeding during this drive.

Got me doing 70 in a 50 and I had to be careful not to laugh at the

irony in front of the motorcyle cop in his snappy outfit and

officialness!

Who or what am I when I hold this belief that I have a right as an

American to these things, and reality shows me it is not true? I am

indignant, self-rightious, more deserving than others, special and

willing to infringe on others' peace and freedom to attain what is

due me by manipulative behaviour, lying, emotional bribery,

threatening looks, abandonment of friendship - particularly when I

think they need to give me something to " provide " me with peace,

safety and freedom. And yes, all of the above are reasons to let go

of the belief.

Who am I when I let go of the belief that I have a right as an

American to peace, safety and freedom? I get to take responsibility

for willingly and freely taking notice of and investigating a thought

which disagrees with reality and imprisons me momentarily. And, I

feel gratitude for what an amazing freedom this is, to be able to do

this Work.

The turn-arounds: I do not have a right as an American to peace,

safety and freedom. It is only a concept, through and through, it

appears, including being an " American " . And, I am grateful to live

in this country we have agreed to call America, where I am pretty

darn free to speed and get caught, or not.

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful insights and sharing. I am

giving myself the gift of reading everyone's messages and it is so

profound.

We are sharing the " Good News " from the weeks' experiences.

Love,
