Guest guest
Hi all! As you know, lately i'm developing RestLess Leg Syndrome. I also have more symptoms if you can remember.. (fatigue, sexual exhaustion,...). Then i found this: http://www.healthysleeping.com/focus_article.asp? b=healthysleeping & f=sleep_disorders & c=sleep_ironworks & pg=2 This webpage explains the cause of RestLess Leg Syndrome: The brain has not enough receptors to catch Iron. So, the brain is low in iron. And what does this cause? A brain low in iron affects the Dopaminergic acctivity. If your brain is low in iron, your dopamine system is downgraded, and you experience symptoms similar to Parkinsons (but without being degenerative like Parkinsons). This happens because Dopamine needs Iron to work properly. What's more, Iron is crucial at giving Oxygen to the brain. This is why people who have RestLess Syndrome feel better if they take Dopamine Agonists. But now they have discovered the real reason. And it seems Dopamine Agosnists are only a false and temporal solution. The good one is giving intravenous ferritin (Iron). Giving ferritin makes dissapear the RestLessSyndrome, and makes the Dopamine system work better. So, my new theory is: a) Maybe the SSRI's have depleted some Iron receptors, and this has screwed the Dopaminergic system. Maybe SSRI's are only BAD for people who has a problem in the Dopaminergic system. This problem can be caused by many causes: structural problems like Chiari, etc.., dopaminergic Gene defects, or an Iron receptor defect that makes you have an indirect dopaminergic defect (not degenerative as Parkinsons, but that aggravates with an SSRI). Also, i'd like to say all these makes some sense to me, because when taking SSRI's i experienced a strange feeling when " yawning " , and a feeling of not having enough Oxygen (Iron insufficiency in brain makes you have low brain Oxygen levels). And also, what a coincidence that before taking SSRIs i didn't have RestLess Leg Sydrome, and now i have it. And would explain also why i feel so good when i exercise (dopamine goes up). And Last, if you have a symptom like RestLess Leg Syndrome, it is needed first to consider other causes like Lupus, etc... If you think it is a good theory... What about the remedies? 1) Try taking oral Iron And Folate Acid (folate acid seems a good one to try too...!), and other Vitamins. 2) But the definitive effective solution seems to be Intravenous Iron.
