Inositol causing hives??

I started my 9 yr old son on inositol about 3 1/2 weeks ago, working up to about

5 grams a day. Yesterday, he had a sudden fever, no other symptoms. The fever

broke quickly with Tylenol, but then last night, he said his tongue felt

swollen, and I noticed hives on his chin and hip. I brought him to the doctor

this morning, and the hives are much worse today, on his arms, legs and back.

The dr thought it was a reaction to something, or viral. He told me to stop all

vitamins and supplements until the hives clear, probably 7-10 days. I'm so

upset, because I really felt the inositol was working, and so did my son. He

said he felt much calmer then he normally does.

Has anyone ever seen a reaction like this to inositol? His doctor never even

heard of inositol, so he didn't know if it could be causing this or not.

, I think someone else once mentioned a rash/hives. Wish you hadn't had to

stop all he was taking, interesting to see if just the inositol stopped would

have cleared it up. But if that was the only " new " thing he had recently, then

it probably was. Look at the bottle and see if anything else might be listed as

to a possible cause?? Was thinking a different brand might make a difference?

Quick thoughts,
