Yes, I was very happy. It's not that Beth can't talk, mind you. She talks all the time at home and to her friends and to whom SHE feels comfortable talking. She hasn't really bonded yet with the bus driver this year though, so it was cool that she was able to do that instead of fretting all the way to school (45 minutes)!

She's going to homecoming in a week so that should be interesting. I had to break the heart of a boy in her school who likes her, since she didn't feel the same way, and he was 'bugging' her. When he called, I had to tell him to please leave her alone (basically). Somehow I think it's the first of many times I've going to have to get involved. I can just see it.....ugh! Beth is too nice to discourage boys and too pretty to not attract them....

I'm going to have to teach her a thing or two....or we'll be repeating this scene over and over, I'm afraid.

Maralee,

WOW!!! Congratulations!!! I am so impressed that she was able to communicate this and in a way to where the driver listened!!! ~happy dance~ It makes you almost glad she forgot… ~winks~

<<Beth did something that surprised me Friday morning. She left on her bus for her school (she is first one on), and then 2 minutes later the bus was back in my driveway. I was so surprised. She had forgotten her lotion...and if you recall my previous emails, she is obsessed with her facial skin..the dryness...and freaks out about it (almost to panic attack status). So she realized she had no lotion and ASKED THE BUS DRIVER TO COME BACK HOME to get it! Now, this is the girl who cannot talk to anyone....cannot pay for anything herself or order at a restaurant...and she doesn't know the bus driver that well yet...and to ask her to turn around and come back.....well, I was proud of her!!>>
