I've tried both Viagra and Cialis. Viagra did little for me, but

Cialis gives very good erections. However, neither of them did

anything to my lidido, which was not much of a surprise as these drugs

are not supposed to affect libido either way. They are designed to

treat erectile dysfunction, not insufficient libido.

So cialis gave you an erection despite having no libido? Or do you

have libido?

I haven't tried Viagra or any of those type of drugs yet but from what I understand they only work on the "plumbing". That is, they only physically cause an erection and have no psychoactive effects. A type of drug that preliminary studies show does cause an increase in libido is still being tested and may take a few years for FDA approval. Well, I had some libido. Not very high, lower than before starting

SSRIs, but not zero. But you don't need libido to get erections with

Cialis.

A urologist told me he sometimes prescribes viagra for a short 3

month period to young adults with symptons similiar to post ssri.

The premise behind this prescription is it usually builds sexual

confindence and after 3 months you find your confidence has added

libido and sex drive. The urologist also stated that there is no

medical proof that ssri's affect your sexual function after taking

the medication and thought the cause of the dysfunction was based on

performance anxiety.

What do you guys think?

I think viagra is good if the sexual dysfunction is psychological.

PSSD might be psychological for some people so it's probably worth

trying. However, I beleive that in the majority of cases, PSSD is

not psychological but neurological.

It's well established that SSRIs cause sexual dysfunction in most

people who take them and there is no reason to assume that the

dysfunction would reverse unless we know eactly how it's being

caused (which we don't). Also, the types of sexual dysfunction

like gentital anesthesia and ejaculatory anhedonia are highly

unlikely to be psychological.

I'm not sure what your urologist means when he says that " there is

no medical proof " . That's a completely idiotic thing to say. There

was " no proof " that the earth revolves around the sun, and the

majority of people resisted that idea. It took people like Galileo

and Copernicus to prove that it did, but now we think it's abvious

and take it for granted.
