Guest guest
Sharon, I'm in your boat on this. I've had about 10 days since I started " eating " again, wherein I ate everything I could get my hands on, and still wanted more. Even the cupboard doors weren't safe; I was like a cartoon goat. I have no clue what brought / brings this on. Jim Sharon > Sharon in Onyx > who is eating uncontrollably for the last 3 days, and for some > reason cant stop or get full..... > whats up with that? Guest guest
Well, first of all, Sharon darling, don't get on the scale right after you eat! Sheesh! What do you expect? You should be weighing in the morning, if you weigh at ALL. And don't feel bad. I had the same kind of eating day you did. High protein cereal with almonds and milk for breakfast PBJ sandwich and ritz crackers for lunch Rice pudding, bbq chips and frozen yogurt for snacks Five beef taquitos with extra cheese and avocados for dinner Large warm pretzel for a snack More high protein cereal with almonds and milk just a few minutes ago Mostly bad choices and waaaaaay too much food. (Please God make my hernia repair stop all this! I'm so terrified of gaining weight.) Sharon, are you exercising? I haven't gained weight even though I'm eating like this and I'm convinced it's because I exercise for 45 minutes 5 days a week. I'm going to try to up that to an hour and see if I can kick start the weight loss again. Love you! Tracey and when I > was weighed after lunch and breakfast, and ice tea, I had gained > 6lbs according to the scale... > Yuck, > Sharon in Onyx > who knows she is not eating the right things but cant seem to stop! Guest guest
Sharon, First off, welcome to the group! You have found a very supportive bunch of people who I am sure will have a vast amount of understanding and ideas on how to make your son's life easier... A couple questions... are you going to be able to stay in the same spot for a while now? Our kiddos really don't do well with changes and it sounds like he is on sensory overload! What are your school alternatives? Will he be starting up with a different teacher next year? Can you request a different teacher? If a student/teacher relationship is bad, it can be incredibly destructive to our kiddos self esteem as well as their ability to learn. They are concentrating so hard on the relationship that nothing else seems to matter. Since they aren't good at relationships anyway, this could go from bad to worse!!! Not all teachers will teach the same way in one school (or will be abusive). You would be amazed how big a difference just the change of classrooms might do. If you could find a supportive teacher that kind of understands your child and his problems, your battle would be mostly won!!! You said that scheduling is your downfall, and that you don't stick to one very well… How is your son at sticking to a schedule? Could you make one up for him and allow him to stick to one, even while you aren't? I know that sounds difficult, but some kids with AS are so comforted by schedules that they are willing to keep their own just to feel more centered. (My son, starting at age 5, set his alarm for 6am every morning and kept his own schedule. Mine varied, but he made sure that he was able to keep his!!!) Again, I really feel for the position you are in. My only hope is that you can find some way to stabilize your son's life, so he feels in control and content. Only then will he feel free to explore his interests and abilities!!! ~hugs~ Rabecca
