Guest guest
I just want you to know that I agree with you. I have not done the diet with my son. I tried another one that I found that is far less restrictive but it seemed to cause him a lot of bowel problems. Sometimes I feel guilty about not putting him on the diet and wonder if it would help him. However I know a lot of parents in a parent group here who have had their kids on the diet for a number of years. I have not noticed any improvement in their children. I have avoided it because it is soooo restrictive and very expensive. I know it does help some children though. It sounds like it has helped your son significantly. It might help you to copy some articles from the doctors who created and support this diet to give to the school I did feel bad for him about what you claim the school told you about him feeling bad about not getting to eat what the other children eat. You might try going to lunch with him one day so you can see for yourself if that is truly happening. I wish I had some suggestions for you as to how you can help him if it is true. I wish you luck with this stressful situation. Shauna > > >> > It seems by the responses to my recent postings about the diet and >> > schools that no one has had the difficulties we have. Guest guest
Hi , For a detailed description of how the diet has positively changed my sons life see: http://www.autismtreatment.info/Default.asp?Did=2 Understand, we are just parents, with no medical training, and you should consult your doctor before making any health related decisions. But my wife and I can see tremendous and immediate effects when our son eats foods (wheat and dairy) that he shouldn't. We use Houston Nutraceutical enzymes with him and they help alot for trace amounts of things that slip through. Our son with Autism (PDD), in the past, has been had dual enrollment with the public ISD and a private school and neither had a problem with the diet. We sent his snacks and drinks separately, and there never has been a problem. I suspect you are really having a problem with specific ignorant people. I suggest you see if maybe someone with the ARC of Texas could go with you to the school district and " educate " them, with some backup notes from your doctor. (especially if you have any notes from your alergist showing wheat or dairy allergies). Arc of Texas website - http://www.thearcoftexas.org/Chapter%20Services/CSdir.html Good luck, J. P. I would appreciate those whose children are on the diet to let us know what improvements they have seen in their kids by adhering to the diet. Are there many kids of parents on this list on the diet? I would love to know how many of us are doing this. I feel that if we were to put Tristan on a regular diet he would be harmed greatly. It would be mental cruelty to allow him to begin eating the foods that we all eat and then take them away from him again. I also believe that if we did this the teacher would see for herself the regression and harm and say he should be on the gfcf diet. It would be cruel to do that just to prove a point to the school. Guest guest
My son Dario has been on the diet for 1 1/2 years he's doing great. I don't have problems at school Vicky GFCF diet survey It seems by the responses to my recent postings about the diet and schools that no one has had the difficulties we have.
