Guest guest
Hello Sharon, My Name is Claudette on and my son was DX with PDD almost 4yrs ago. I had a similar situation at the private school that he was going to. His Doctor told us that we should not pursue the issue until we had settled in a new school and he felt safe. After about a year a piddling around we started investigating what really happened at the school. We were told that we had every legal right to go after the school and those involved in the incident. By all legal rights the school needs to notify you when there has been physical contact between your child and a teacher. If you found out by hear say it is often hard to prosecute and we were told that it could be hard to prosecute those involved. We were told to meet with the school principal and all teachers involved with our son and set up and IEP plan that must be followed and it is your right to refuse physical contact with your son as this can make matters worse. Then and only then can you prosecute be cause you will have a legal binding contract between the school and yourself.

Guest guest
I heard via hear say, but I was smart about it. I asked my son about the other kids being grabbed, and while telling me their experiences, he volunteered his information. Then the principal and I met and the principal expressed to me in front of my son's case manager that they enforce physical restraint and the teacher also said that they did grab my son by the neck right under the chin, but it was to make him focus. > Hello Sharon, > My Name is Claudette on and my son was DX with PDD almost 4yrs > ago. Guest guest
I would most definitely pursue this further. That isn't right what they did. I live in Canada and in our schools there is a hands off rule for everyone. STudents and teachers. That teacher was wrong and if she thinks that this is okay to do then she will keep doing this to every kid. She may also come across the wrong kid one day who may slug her and then who's fault will it be. If I were you I wouldn't let you go. My son also has PDD but is also extremely smart. However he needs all the help he can get in order to keep his concertration where it needs to be in order to do what he needs to. My son had the same problems last year and even when his teacher found out about his Dx she still treated him as a bad child. I never let it go and he is now getting the in class help he needed and is a much more adjusted and happier child at school. I hope that you are able to get some help and have something happen to correct this teacher. Guest guest
Thank you to everyone who posted a response. I contacted an educational law place, and I am just waiting for a response. This teacher has been nasty to little boys for a long time, and when I say long, I mean long. She was my Kindergarten teacher and I am 29. And she was no youngster then. I am definately going to persue this. I want to see her retire, and I want them to fire the assistant teacher as well. Sharon > I would most definitely pursue this further.
