I will use many of my search engines to aid in your need of medical articles. I am an audiologist and in my professsion one of the major effects of second hand smoke relates to an increase in ear infections. As well all know, ear infections are detrimental to child with DS as it can take a longer than normal time for them to recover from an ear infection (smaller eustachian tube). Any child with an ear infection typically develops a conductive hearing loss. Hearing loss effects a child's ability to learn. Etc. etc. I will try to email you some links to appropriate articles. One article I just found is titled "Passive smoking doubles the risk of heart disease". I don't know if your little guy has a heart condition as well. Let me know if you don't get the links as I will be more than happy to mail you some hard core data. You are very smart to get the scientific research as this is almost always irrefutable.
