Guest guest
I use a protein carb shake immediately after intense powerlifting workouts in order to replenish my muscles and get stronger. It's at least 60 grams simple sugars and at least 40 grams easily digestible protein. If you can drink milk then milk makes an excellent protein shake - just mix milk, vitamin/mineral powder, bananas, honey or maple syrup - you name it the sky is the limit. For those that are lactose intolerant; I'd suggest making protein shakes with lactose free whey protein, soy protein, egg white protein, something without lactose. Currently I am using Isopure zero carb protein shakes in bottles after training. I drink one bottle. Then refill the bottle with orange juice and drink it. That's @ 60 grams simple sugars and 40 grams protein. I also have a meal after training but I minimize the fiber because I want the food to digest quicker. At the rest of my meals I make sure to eat plenty of vegetables and fiber. Edwin Freeman, Jr. San Francisco, USA =========================== In a message dated 9/26/2008 9:06:29 A.M. I have my own professional idea's regarding pre and post training nutritional input but always appreciate someone else's ideas . I've trained and trained with, among others, Bodybuilders ( Oliva), Strength Athletes (Fred Hatfield/Rich s), and fitness/wellness folks such as Mike Yessis, and have always given the best knowledge at hand and been a sponge for information myself. How about sharing your favorite self designed shakes, when to drink them, and why. Thanks. Sincerely, J.C.
