The doc wants Zach(14) to take Melatonin. Getting him to take meds is really hard. I just got to the point where he will take his allergy and asthma meds. He is also suppose to be taking Remeron but it just wipes him out.

I have done Clonidine in the past with Zach and my 12yrold son. I believe they were on it for about 4yrs and it was wonderful knowing they were finally getting some much needed sleep.

hello anybody out there?

Is it just quiet pre-thanksgiving, or has everyone fallen off the face of the earth?

Things are going fairly well in my house, other than my HFA 15 yr old dd cuddling with her boyfriend every minute she can get...they find any reason they can to touch each other and snuggle. SIGH. It drives me crazy. They are obsessed, yes...especially my daughter....and can't really have extended conversations about many topics...he could but she doesn't...but they can snuggle (under blankets too sometimes). I am continually breaking it up, moving them out to the public area of the house, trying to occasionally get into a conversation with them. What I need is a little brother about 8 years old for her to hang around all the time. Anyone have one I can borrow?

you have your hands full, don't you?

My daughter has always has sleep problems. They are much better now, at 15, but she still has problems....she takes seroquel at night which helps some and melatonin which usually helps a lot. She's been complaining lately though that she can't get to sleep again....off and on.

Oh those hormones must be flying!! HeHe. I think they are doing what

most 15 yr olds would be doing not talking much just staring lovingly

into each others eyes (ahhhh) vomits into bucket!!

Oh I do not envy you at all. fortunatly my 7 yr old daughter hates

boys at the moment especially her brother! I hope the boyfriend has

bought her a nice christmas (thanks giving) pressie or it could be

the end!

Maralee - I've got a 15 year old daughter who would PAY you to take her 10 year old brother - would that help?!?!?!?

But maybe he would drive your daughter up the wall with his clarinet playing as well!

I'm here, finally having gotten another computer (a dear strawberry iMac

that I have named Ida Red after the old country song).

Louie's doing great, and is due for dinner this evening. We're looking

forward to Thanksgiving, and yesterday I did the yearly ritual of moving

the turkey from the freezer to the fridge, with a short prayer that

it'll be thawed by Thursday a.m. Still have a couple of things to get

(sage, green beans, cranberry sauce), but my schedule is set for the

Monster Day O' Cooking. It'll just be us three, so I've been able to

scale down a bit.

Hey, here's a thought! What's everyone having for Thanksgiving, here in

the states? I'll start..... Roast turkey with cornbread stuffing,

stewed chicken with my dh's great home-made egg noodles, baked yams with

butter, mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, green beans with ham, hominy

sauteed in butter, my dh's famous pumpkin pie and my famous chocolate

cream pie. And of course cranberry sauce and various sweet and dill

pickles and olives. How 'bout you?

Anyway, things are picking up speed in my situation. I got a note

yesterday from the transplant coordinator outlining the tests I need to

take in the next two weeks. Four of 'em (three of which are $75/ea.)

and between twelve and eighteen different blood tests. My husband is

taking a cut in pay at the church (like he earns that much; please!) to

meet SSI's gross maximum so I can get Medicaid to pay for all this.

That will be happening next month. We're hoping the church will help us

pay for the tests; if not, they won't get done, because with the pay cut

we won't have the money for them. And one of them's Tuesday. sigh

Anyway, they'll also want me to go to Denver for 2 days for more testing

once the Medicaid is approved; my dh must acompany me, so lord knows

what they plan on doing. And then it's just a wait for the

transplant. Boy. My dr. is really gung-ho about this, so it could

happen in the next two or three months, G-d willing and a liver shows

up.

Meanwhile, a friend is coming down today from Santa Fe and I'm looking

forward to a good visit. It's turned as cold as Blue Blazes here,

temps at night in the 20's, so I guess it's winter.

I am salavating at your dinner. We have already had our Thanksgiving but I

think I will be celebrating with you even though I'm not American because

your dinner sounds divine.

I was wondering I have always wanted to try making cornbread stuffing but

have never found a recipe would you be willing to share yours.

Dana and Maralee - I'm having a wry chuckle here!

, my 13 year old is the one with an autistic spectrum disorder. Louise

(15) and (10 going on 50!) have had a lot to put up with. As I'm sure

all our siblings do.

Louise's friends think is " cute " and don't really mind if he talks

about the Tank or The sound of Music. But then, most of her (and

's) friends are fairly special kids too. It's taken them a long time to

confide in the right people and not get snide remarks thrown in their faces.

Dana - that boyfriend sounds as if he might be special as well. Don't

know................. go on the gut feeling. A lot of guys that age - and

older - would run a mile.

I'm also enjoying the Thanksgiving food that's being talked about. Anybody

care to invite us to the States for a meal and we'll invite you back to

Scotland for Christmas?!?!?

You've made me hungary and I've just had breakfast! As you all know

we don't have thanksgiving here so I have to wait a bit longer until

christmas!

Good luck with your tests. I don't know how you all manage we are soo

lucky to have the NHS over here, we do not have to worry about cost

of care but we do have huge waiting lists!

Then after that you come up to Shetland where I am for Up-Helly-Aa at the

end of January. Have a look on the internet for the pictures if you haven't

heard about it. It's a big fire festival.
