Guest guest
If an article you post states it's copyrighted, and most are, it may be cropped with a link to the rest of article. I think group could be sued for distributing copyrighted material. I think we can post an introduction to the the article, or part of the article, with a link to the rest. That is my understanding anyway.
Guest guest
Okay, I've gotten clarification. Apparently if it is on the internet, it can be reposted as long as it has a link so be sure there is link. If it is very very long, please post only part of article and link unless article is very important and link may be temporary. In that case, we can put whole article in archives to save it. > > If an article you post states it's copyrighted, and most are, it may be cropped with a link to the rest of article. Guest guest
I wouldn't even crop it. Write to the originator and ask for permission to either reprint all or part or just to link to article. Guest guest
The safest thing for the group to do, in my opinion, and most interesting thing for readers also, is to write what you found interesting in the article and then put a link to where you read it. I put out a post on the oil dispersants used in the Gulf and only put the link but felt I should have put a statement with it as to what I found interesting, which I didn't do but would have been, " EPA questions safety of 75,000 barrels of oil dispersant being sprayed daily in the Gulf " , rather than posting the llink without comment or posting the entire thing and leaving it up to reader to figure out why I posted it. That way you are posting the information without any possible copyright infringement. I know we have been and no one has been sued or knows anyone who has been, but it's like speeding. You can do it alot and not get a ticket but that's no guarantee some day you won't be pulled over and have to pay out a lot of money, which *I don't have. Some articles say nothing about copyright but they are from online magazines and such that may have it on their home page or some other page that applies to all content, but many times people post whole article and copyright statement is right there associated with article and if I put it through, then I have handled it also and I don't want to have to pay for the damages someone may decide to seek. The issue of whether you can copy or not is in dispute on the net but I figure better safe than sorry. > > This is an excellent article on > copyright: http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html > > Barth > > www.presenting.net/sbs/sbs.html > > SUBMIT YOUR DOCTOR: www.presenting.net/sbs/molddoctors.html >
