Sometimes I want to scream at the doctors ! throws up alot and the doctors said it is behavior well ,I got a problem with that theory cause she will throw up in her sleep ,what attention is she seeking then. What does it have to do with autism then.She weighs over 200 pounds and I think it is medical. Guest guest Posted January 26, 2001 Report Share Posted January 26, 2001 Its just my opinion, but from her symptoms, it seems that something is definitely toxic in her system. The doctors are not being responsible enough and you need to insist on more lab work and possibly GI tests etc. before sending her somewhere?! We went through this where the doctors couldnt figure why alina was not eating etc and having gastric reflux. Well, finally my pediatrician referred us to a gastroenterologist-he took alina through extensive testing and diagnosed- helicobactor pylori. Then she was treated with antibiotics and pepto bismol and after two months- was healed of this. I cant imagine where she would be if the specialists had not found this. So, keep insisting to the doctors that you feel something is very wrong with child-and be specific and write things down for the doctors of evey symptom child has. That also helps doctors send you to the correct specialist if needed and help keep from a mis diagnosis. Guest guest Posted January 26, 2001 Report Share Posted January 26, 2001 Well We got a referal to a gastro intestinal specialist at childrens Hospital. what kills me is I've been screaming about abnormaliites in her digestive system since she was 1 year old and now that she's 200 pounds and off the wall NOW they will send her for testing. Her thyroid levels were normal. Her blood work abnormalites were elevated blood lactic and pyruvic acid, that didn't show up in a spinal tap, and elevated tyrosine - so there is obviously something not right but its not wrong enough for them to jump on. I wonder if she has the inability to digest wheat and it just sits and ferments in her intestine....doesn't fermented grain turn into alchohol? I think I'm going to ask for s blood alchohol level...whiuch should totally freak out my docs. Ha. Thanks for the help, I'll keep you posted. It just seems to all be part ofthe tendency for some professionals to look a our kids as not " quite " people. I've always had the idea that the reason people do what they do to animals comes from their " not human " language, it allows people to keep them seperate saying oh they don't feel things the way we do...so we can treat them which ever way we want and still be good people, because after all they are'nt people. On some level I think alot of people, maybe unconsciously...look at our kids the same way. It's sad and very scary to me as a mother.
