Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for sharing your experience of your IEP. I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. In terms of speech therapy, I do not think you were out of line, at all. Sara, who is in 4th grade has received 4-5 days of 30-minute speech therapy sessions a week since she was in Kindergarten. Yes, I have taken an advocate with me to Sara's IEP meetings. Not to every meeting. Twice, the Developmental Disabilities Advocate from the County has come and then one time a friend, who has a daughter who has DS and is an attorney and has done conflict resolution work came with me. We haven't had major issues, yet (knock on wood), but it was good to have them there just to defer questions to or to get another opinion. I hope you get the speech therapy issue resolved. If you have any more specific questions, let me know. Marcia Mom to Sara (DS) and 11 and Lucas
