Guest guest
Hello. I know their have been some emails about your childrens lack of sleep. My first child with DS slept very little, while young, She never required much sleep. She had serious heart problems (complete AVCanal) that she still has to take meds for and will require more surgery in the future. It always amazed me how little sleep she needed. When she got older about 5, She started sleeping a typical routine. Just wanted to let you, that are having problems with your childs sleep patterns, to know this. My other daughter Ce Ce had alot of sleep issues but she slept too much. She also had a AVCanal defect but is now doing great. She had sleep apnea but tonsils and adnoids out helped that for years. But now in the last year I am seeing some signs that she may have sleep apnea. I find her folded over almost every morning. Sleeping with her head on her knees. Someone told me that is a sign, that she probably wakes up trying to catch her breath and bends forward to help. I went to parent teacher conferences yesterday and her teacher says by afternoon she is too worn out to do anything. She typically goes to bed at 9pm and wakes up about 6am. In the past this amount of sleep has been enough. But on days she doesn't have school, she will sleep til 11 am now. My dh has sleep apnea and he is worried that she is going to totally freak out for the testing. I plan on scheduling a sleep study soon. She has very high anxieties so I am not sure how she will react to having all those electrodes connected to her scalp. I was wondering if any of your children have had a sleep study and what you did to help them calm down and sleep for it. She is a teenager and may do just fine but you just never know. She is in love with Vin Disel, so I am thinking about getting her a new pic of him to put under her pillow!! lol She sleeps with one under her pillow everynight. I thought she was really weird, til I saw Cassidy in People magazine last week' and realised at her age, I danced around with the album cover kissing the pic of him on it and singing his songs!! lol On another subject, she is sick of her periods and wants to go ahead and get depo shots. She really handles it well so I wasn't really wanting too. But she is adament about it. Anyone else with a girl old enough to be going thru puberty? My other daughter is two years older but has not started yet. At 15 she weighs just 60 lbs, so I am not sure if she will have one.
