Guest guest
Hi Casey, I am still pondering the idea of going and was actually considering the Ramada Inn, as well. Did you find anything more out about the children's program? I notice you are not taking your children. I was still considering bringing Sara and Gabe, but also would like to know what is involved with the Children's program. Thanks, Marcia Mom to Sara (DS) and 11 and Lucas
Guest guest
Hi Casey and Marcia, I’m sorry to be late (life is crazy/busy right now) in responding to questions about the World DS Conference and Children’s program. I am relying mostly on info from their website. I had to call their offices to enroll, and the woman who helped me said that the Children’s program is excellent. I have a room at the Fairmont, where the conference is held (Aug. 23-27). The cost is in Canadian $, so there is a bit of a savings from US dollars. I’m so glad you are planning to go, Casey! Marcia, I hope you can make it, too. Mom to Laurel 19, Niles 17, Brett (ds) and
Guest guest
, I can't believe I missed meeting you and your kids at the conference!! I was there too, but without my kids. I found it so interesting that the focus was inclusion, just as was ready to enter 1st grade in a general ed placement. I wish I was having better luck applying all that I learned to her situation here. Not only is she the only kid with DS in her school, I found out yesterday that there hasn't been a kid with DS there in the 8 years the resource teacher has worked there! Oh well, time to educate, inform, convince, cajole. . . Sorry I missed you in Vancouver! Casey
Guest guest
Casey, I know that you’re doing a great job with . I hope that it works to your advantage that you’ll be “pioneering” in her school. I hope we meet at the next conference...I’ll do a better job of arranging a meeting. I hadn’t expected my husband to be able to go, so it was a great family trip. We were busy!
