Guest guest
I went to a potty training seminar for kids with special needs. I have 2.5 year old twin boys as well. I started to focus on Klye first. He is my twin without DS. He was very easy so I was lucky. He has been trained completely for 8 months. His twin watches him so it was a benefit to train him first.(They are both trying to figure out how to stand up at the potty now) Here are the tips I got from the training that I am currently using with (DS). I change him in the bathroom. All of the supplies are in there & no where else. I put him on the potty the same times each day. I do not do every hour or half hour. I do at meals, before bath time & when he wakes up. They suggested that I use cloth pants & put pull ups over them but I have not started that yet.(He is supposed to learn what wet feels like)They also suggested to get rid of potty chairs & use the regular potty which I did. (The theory is that when they transition from a potty chair to a regular potty they have to relearn. I have been doing this for 3 months. usually always goes when I put him on. He is not consistant with telling me when he has to go but he at least is starting to tell me. He has also learned the routine of going, wiping & washing the hands. I feel that we have made progress. Good luck, Christiansen Mom to Olivia 16,Isabelle 6, & 2.
