My son may need dental work soon, and the doctor suggested putting him under

anesthesia. What do you guys consider safe under the circumstances? What

about when you do EEG or a colonoscopy? What kind of medications do you

use? Any side effects?

TIA,

Hi ,

I would like to suggest that whatever your dentist uses, make sure it can't

react badly with any supplement, medication, or other substance you child

already takes. Even herbal mixtures can react with anesthesia in unpredictable

ways, so I always have the dentist and doctor discuss what we're using and it's

active ingredients before we give anesthesia to my dd.

Our dentist uses a liquid which creates a drowsy twilight state, then when my

daughter is relaxed and comfortable she puts on the face mask and gives her

just enough " laughing gas " to keep her relaxed but not unconscious.

Good luck!

hi gina

joseph did undergo a test to look into his bladder and went under anestetics.

i think the worst of it was

1.) he is a severe asmatic that became a problem he had to have several

treatments 1st before being put under.

2.) he suffers migraines and he got one of those to because he was not able

to eat before the test.

i didnt see any problems other than that, oh wait yes i did

the staff needs to know he is autistic cause their lazy a$$'s don't read

charts well.

they kept saying this child is bad why can't he be like the normal kids ,

just about that time i walked in and said because he is autistic u ignorant

anus. then told the dr to get a set of different staff here before i leave and

go

straight to the medical boad directors

be sure they know what they child's issues are , tell them, they dont

always read the charts

We have to use Demerol when coming out from anesthesia because my child

becomes very agitated. You don't know if you child will react this way until

it's too late. Make sure that the Doctor knows this could be an issue and to

be ready for it. It took 3 large Swedish Viking type nurses to hold down my

then 4 year child after having tubes placed in his ears. The next time

around a different doctor doubted my story but I insisted they have

something ready and they said it took 2 shots of Demerol to calm him down. I

have no idea how my now 8 year old would do with laughing gas....TS
