Guest guest
Hi! I read your message regarding your daughter's problem with certain foods, textures, etc. I have two sons, one that is severly autistic and non-verbal and an older son with Asperger's. Both of them have periodic bouts of loving certain foods, then out of the blue, they will NOT eat it. The way I handled that part of it was just find something that they would eat until it passed (and it will) until they switch to another food they love. Also, as far as the hand and feet washing and not eating the banana if anyone has touched it or marks on it, that is definitely OCD.......my older son, who compulsively (every 30 minutes) washed his hands until they were almost raw was put on Respridol......even though it says it's a "anti-psychotic" medication, it has been proven to really help with OCD AND stimulates appetite. There are also other drugs (such as some anti-depressants) which alter brain chemicals to help with OCD that work also. You might want to look into these........ Good luck!!
