Guest guest
Hi Cordy: My arm pain sounds a lot like your's. It's mostly in the forearm - about halfway between my wrist and elbow - and does feel like cramping. I do think it's CMT related. This pain does not seem to be related to activity level in any way. I typ a lot, but that does not seem to influence it much. If I discover any good treatment, I'll let you know. - Marti
Guest guest
Hi All, I had been having aching in my left arm, when I would hold my arm a certain way. I fell on ice in Jan 1999, landing on my left arm, (complete left side, thought ribs were broken, but Doc didn't take pics, saying there wasn't anything that could be done if ribs were broken. I thought maybe elbow maybe went into my side. Was painful for quite a while. I couldn't lay on that side. I am very paranoid on snow or ice now. The ice was under a new layer of snow. The arm is better, but now I'm having aching in right knee & going up into hip & lower back. It seems to bother me worse when I'm sitting w/ knee in bent position. I have tried most of the pain meds. I try to get by without them, unless it is very bad, but it isn't really pain, more achiness in joints. I have Osteoarthitis, my hands & fingers are always hurting. Fingers are curving inwards, & lots of knots on knuckles. I love flower gardening. Bought a 32 lb. bag of potting soil to transfer some houseplants, but couldn't lift the darn thing. A nice man parked next to me helped. I hadbeen lifting them somewhat, (40 lbs.), but sure couldn't do it this time. Patsy
Guest guest
has this thing for the cold too. I'm in sweats and under quilts and he's walking around in shorts and no shirt telling me he's fine, with icicle hands and feet. I really think this is a sensory issue for our kids. Just like the spicy foods with no reaction to it. Go figure..
Guest guest
Sara, We used to do that with at school, only instead of McD's we gave a $1.00 for an all happy face day. He would save them up for a video he wanted. I thought this might get very expensive but it was tough getting an all happy face day. He really tried hard and was sooooo happy when he got his dollar towards that video. Now he earns matchbox cars that the school provides if he has a good day, each day. Guest guest
Loriann, Happy to hear about 's weight loss. I'm really struggling with 's and looking for ways to get him some exercise now that soccer has ended. His appetite has been huge since he started Risperdal and even though he doesn't snack, he's not satisfied with just one portion of a meal. It's really hard to say no when he's begging and saying PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's not wanting more of the salad or veggies. He's been riding one or those large three wheel bikes at school once a week for the last few weeks and they're telling me he likes it and is doing it. I thought about getting one for Christmas until they told me they cost about 1500.00 for the ones with the back to the seat. I called Regional Center and asked if there is anything they can do about getting one of these theraputic bikes and it looks like they're going to get him one. I was shocked. I wonder if it would be pushing my luck if I asked for it by Christmas????

How did you get them to let him ride a bike at school? I have been asking for this since Preschool, and they say it is not " educational " so they 'cannot " provide it. I would love for Matt to get more practice riding bikes. He has no Physical Therapy as he is " functional " at school, but does get OT and Adapted PE. Any suggestions? Guest guest
, If Matt is receiving Adaptive PE, you can get them to provide (or let him ride a bike) at school by showing them that he NEEDS it in order to SUCCEED in that part of his education. Believe it or not, it's all about using the right terminology! Terry Mom to , 13 yrs.

Guest guest
nathan can ride his bike to school too, when its not twenty feet of snow on the ground lol, thats wierd they wont help teach him to ride a bike, its is too functional to help him interact with his peers not to mention a healthy activity wich all our kids need, weve use to use regualr bikes with training wheels but now at age 9 he bends the trraining wheels out or tips over all the time unable to balance himself but soo badly wanting to ride otu there with his brother, he gets all peeood. HIs PT at hospital wrote a RX for one, so he could finding for it, staing it was needed do to unability to balance and the need for exercise due to wait etc etc. shawna. Even if your not a poster please answer this poll so we can just see what numbers we come up with. Thanks, I voted tonight...don't know if you got my other message telling you I voted. Guest guest
In a message dated 12/8/01 10:18:33 AM Eastern Standard Time, writes: > it only makes sense that our kids > would do this as they stopped doing it when they were > younger. they are just picking up where they left off. > does this make sense to anyone else or has anyone > noticed the same thing??? thanks neva > Yes, I have noticed this with my daughter. She stims...(arm flapping when excited, eye squinting, some spinning but not as much as a year ago)...when she regresses, then a few days later, an explosion of phrases. She still needs prompting, but the phrases are what gets me. Where before she would need a prompt for " I " , a prompt for " want " , a prompt for " popsicle " and we'd have to go through this until she'd say the phrase. Then after an explosion, it is one prompt for " I want popsicle " ...just by saying, " , use your words, what do you want " . Things like that. By the way, she just turned 3, in case you were wondering. I just started her on the enzymes today. (starting the pep first, then will add the ZP in a couple of weeks or so, depending). My problem is that she is not a big eater anymore. She goes in spurts with that too, and since she just grew, she'll probably only graze for the next 2 to 3 weeks before she goes through another eating machine phase. So, I am not holding out too much hope in the beginning. She has been GF/CF for over a year...then we began adding gluten back into her diet about 2 months ago. She is getting to the age where I can't expect her to sit back and eat bland cake when her sister eats " good " (by MY standards anyway) cake....and she stopped eating her gluten-free breads. So in order to give her sandwiches, we went back to white bread. She seems to be doing okay. Milk products/casein always seemed to be her main problem anyway. Question is, should I try giving her milk after I give her an enzyme so that the enzymes have something to work on or should I wait awhile or not give it at all? From reading here, sounds like you need to experiment a lot. Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar boat? Thanks
Guest guest
Charlene, I don't think Nick Steel's work fits this because the indicators used - aged under 5 years; elective admissions under 5 years; births under 2,500; deaths under 65 years (all expressed as rate per 10,000 people registered) are all ratio level numbers (rather than nominal or ordinal level). Sorry Sinéad

Guest guest
Lizzie, it's only been two weeks since I'm taking L- (or DL-) Phenylaline, but I think it's helping--my legs are still achy, but definitely not as stiff. Perhaps it's the LDN kicking in finally (I've been on it for three months), the weather getting a little warmer, or a combination thereof. Dr. Bihari suggested taking two capsules a day--one in the morning and another in the late afternoon. They're 500 mg each. Also at his suggestion, I began with one and plan on adding a second this week. Good luck with it.
