Perhaps he just doesn't realize that this could be happening at the same time. Just a thought. lin Ajax. There are special eye doctors that can check that for you. They are just eye doctors but you have to ask them if they check to see if your son needs eye therapy. Here is a web site to help explain what I mean www.covd.org My son is 9 now and when they checked him for school for 1st grade they said he had 20/20 vision but his OT told me to find an eye doctor that did this testing so I called my local hospital and she gave me a name of an eye doctor that could do the testing which he did and my son has visual delays, At that time the eye Dr. just sold us a book with dots for him to try to draw a straight line from dot to dot for practice which we worked on but didn't realize he needed more and then we just found out this fall that his eyes are not tracking together. He is seeing 2 of everything close up. The web site will explain it better that I can. We have been going to therapy for about 9 weeks and I can see a really big improvement in my son's vision. He would fight me when he had to read something, now he is reading with only a little fussing and I think that is only because he is so used to complaining. I don't know where you live, I live in PA, USA and it is a relatively new thing and alot of teachers and insurance companies don't recognize it as legitimate therapy. My insurance did and it pays for the therapies but not the first exam which runs about $100.00. It is well worth the price for the help that my son is getting. I also bought a CD that we can use with different levels of eye therapy on it at a cost of $200.00 which is not covered by insurance. I thought it was a alt at the time but I'm glad I did. I do know sometimes working on different pieces of colored paper help. Also, I know some kids wear different colored lenses. I imagine your son probably is having a hard time with blackboard work. Guest guest Posted December 16, 2003 Report Share Posted December 16, 2003 LJ, Don't know if you're in the US but it sounds like the melt down kind of coincided with Thanksgiving Break which seems to set my son off until they resume in January. His teachers always just love him the weeks between Thanksgiving and winter break. We get complaints he can't see the chalkboard, he can't hear the teacher, the class is to noisey, his stomach hurts, his head hurts, he has chills, his legs hurt, etc. We just smile and say to ourselves only __more days to Winter break. We wondered about that based on the increased cold too! Thank you for your input!
