Guest guest
Illinois Medicaid will give breastfeeding mothers a free double-pump from *either* Medela, Ameda or Hygeia. They are stripped-down versions without all the nice extras on the bag, etc, but it is the same motor as the Pump In Style Original or the Purely Yours, though I haven't seen the Hygeia version. And Illinois Medicaid will often cover chiropractic and at least one of the chiros on my "short list of safe-and-effective" accepts Medicaid, so these mothers can take their babies there. Dee Kassing We work with a large Medicaid population and since these types of services are often private pay we rarely have clients who are in a position to pay for these types of referrals.I'm wondering if those of you who refer to these other types of helpers are working with a different population that has the resources to pay for this type of referral?I just don't work with a large volume of patients that have the resources to rent/purchase a pump, and refer out to a CST or chiropractor for services. Half the time they end up having to rely on hand expression or a hand pump from the pump kit they used in the hospital. Not that you can't have success with those resources, but many mothers don't possess the persistence that is necessary to optimize success with hand expression only if they need a pump to maintain supply. They give up and lose their milk
