Guest guest
My son has been weaning off of his meds for the last few months. He still has another 4 months to go before he's off of them. So far it's going okay. He's getting more compulsions but less anxiety attacks. Some of the side effects are getting a little better too. He's coming off very slowly. 25mg every two weeks. I was told that he would not have any withdrawal at that rate. He's had the stomach flu (maybe) three times now in the last 2 months. He's never had the stomach flu more than 1 time in a year before. I'm just wondering if anyone here has taken their child off meds and had them getting sick. All 3 times were about 5 or 6 days after I lowered the dose. But he's also had a couple times that I lowered it and didn't have any problems. Not sure what to think but just wanted to see if anyones had experience with it. Guest guest
He was on 250mg anafranil and 100mg luvox. He's got the anafranil down to 125 mgs. He's been on these for 1 1/2 yrs. He's been on ssri's for 6 1/2 yrs. > > > > My son has been weaning off of his meds for the last few months. He still has another 4 months to go before he's off of them. So far it's going okay. Guest guest
Hi, just googling about anafranil, withdrawal, does seem like his symptoms could be the withdrawal. All seem to say about the same: Withdrawal Symptoms - A variety of withdrawal symptoms have been reported in association with abrupt discontinuation of Anafranil, including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache, malaise, sleep disturbance, hyperthermia, and irritability. In addition, such patients may experience a worsening of psychiatric status. While the withdrawal effects of Anafranil have not been systematically evaluated in controlled trials, they are well known with closely related tricyclic antidepressants, and it is recommended that the dosage be tapered gradually and the patient monitored carefully during discontinuation Hope he's feeling better today! > > He was on 250mg anafranil and 100mg luvox.
