I used to Tae-Bo everyday alternating Basic and Advanced work-outs but am trying to cut back to 4-5 times a week and doing more weight training and stretching instead. Maybe back to some walking too now that the hot weather is ending. Every other day of Basic got me great results in the beginning though Barb who believes it is better to exercise too little than too much especially when first starting

I alternate taebo every other day with one of the million other exercise tapes I own. Whether I do 1 basic, 2 basics or an advanced just depends on how strong (emotionally and physically) I feel that morning. Occasionally, if I get out of work early enough and am feeling pretty good about myself, I'll push that play button and do something extra, just for fun. I gotta agree with Barb, a little is alot better than alot when you are first starting. As far as motivation goes...get up, push the play button and move your body! Even if it's just for a few minutes. You will have accomplished THE START.....The most important part (for now, anyway)! Good luck!

Guest guest
Hi ! I do Tae-Bo 5x a week in the morning before work. I only have a 30 minute block of time during the day on weekdays. I used to do just basic workouts because they fit the bill, but since this past November I have added advanced workouts 3 of the 5 days. I do the first 25-30 minutes of the advanced and then FFWD to the cool down. It was getting to the point where the basics weren't challenging enough for me. It actually felt like it was working against me, I was tired and sluggish and no longer had that famous " Tae-Bo High " that makes us all feel so good. Once I stepped up my intensity with the advanced workouts, I started to feel good again. As well as motivating yourself, you also need the " determination " to make this the thing that works for you. If you give Tae-Bo your all, it will definitely give you the results you want. Remember, 100% results requires 100% effort on your part! 50% effort . . . well - you know the rest. Just like everything else in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Good morning, , Believe me, I am not a natural morning person! I just gradually starting getting up earlier and earlier so I could accomplish more with my days. I often must stay late at work (emergencies in an animal hosp). Stress and long work days become, for me at least, terrific reasons not work out. Over time, I learned that the only part of my day I could actually 100% count on was the morning, before I leave. What you do for a living sounds really cool, but also unpredictable. Maybe you'll have to pick some wierd time to call your own, That's when you could get your regular workouts in. Then, any slow work days are gravy...extra time with and The Crew! Anyway, I hear them calling me now...Have a great day....Just push play and let the rest take care of itself! You will find motivation here, I promise! I do taebo approximately 6 days a week for an hour. I also go to 1-3 cardio kickboxing classes at gyms a week. When I go to a class, I don't taebo that day. My prefered time to taebo is late afternoon, then it would be early afternoon, then late morning, then in the evening, last in the morning (I'm a morning person, but hate exercising first thing). For me, fitting in taebo when it fits into my schedule works. Try fitting in taebo whenever you have a free period. It really can give you energy any time of the day. Good luck. I thought it would be too exhausting. If you are having a hard time getting out of bed and just feel exhausted, you may need to add another rest day to your routine or doing a shorter or easier routine one day. You want to be strong when you exercise. Otherwise, your form suffers and you risk injury. Plus, you only get the most from a workout when you are all there. Guest guest
I do TB (or any other home kickboxing tape) when I get home from work. Usually I'll go to the taekwondo studio for a class, so that way i'm already really warmed up and stretched when I get home and do a tape. When I first started taking classes I made sure the studio was halfway between work and home---that motivates me to walk from work to the studio, and then I can't skip going because I'm walking right past it! I know that if I went home first, then tried to venture out to a gym or studio, it would never work. I live in a third-floor walk-up studio in Manhattan, so unfortunately my downstairs neighbors put up with alot of pounding every day around 7 p.m.! But they're really cool about it. --acey

Guest guest
I work out when ever I can fit it in, or when I have to for work. My ideal time i in teh evening. My personal workouts are too intense to do on an empty stomach, totally empty that is. I am just the opposite, I eat right after a workout, some prtien and carb, like peanut butter. After an intense workout it is very important to have sugar (in complex carbs) and protien within an hour, for muscle recovery. you build muscle through recovery, not through the actual work. It was once believed that an early morning workout burned fat better, now it is believed that you will burn fat while at rest (say while sleeping) if you do it in the evening. If you workout in the early morning, you should eat something light about a half hour before you work out. If you don't break the fast (breakfast, get it then your body will slow itself down so you don't starve, famine mode. I don't mean to sound like a know it all here, but you really don't burn fat instead of calories on an empty stomach, because the minute you eat, the body replaces it's fat stores.. It is sort of complicated, but put simply, do it when you can, as long as you do it, that is what counts TANYA > > I do Taebo first thing because when you do cardio on an empty stomach....your > body ususe your fat stores for fuel. I also do very energy needing workouts in the am......advanced tapes. This is what I know and it has worked for me tremedously...JMO..thought I would share it with you. When you do aerobics at a relatively high level of blood glucose, your muscles are fueled directly by their existing glycogen, and by the glucose in the blood supply, which is fine. When you do the aerobics at a lower level of blood glucose (in the morning, or a few hours after your previous meal) the muscles have less of a supply to work with, so as your muscle glycogen gets depleted, two things happen. 1) your body has to replenish the glycogen by converting free fatty acids, which means that the enzymes responsible for " lipolysis " become more active. As Covert puts it, " you become a better butter burner " . And 2) the replenishment of that glycogen has taken a longer path. Food that you previously ate that was first converted to fat (never 100% efficient) then has to be converted back from fat to glycogen (never 100% efficient), and then burned as energy in the muscles (really inefficient, with 60-70% expended as heat). So by doing the aerobics on lower blood glucose (not too low or you'll get dizzy) you condition your fat-burning enzymes and expend a little extra energy on the back-and-forth conversions. That, by the way, is also why you wait about an hour before eating carbohydrates in particular - you want the glycogen replenished indirectly, through lipolysis, rather than directly through intake. As I explain on my main page, there's increasing evidence that leucine intake (no carbs) immediately after intense training can help muscle synthesis. So if you eat anything, go for a protein powder high in " branched chain amino acids " . Precision Protein (ion-exchanged whey) is a good choice. (I'm a little late, but better late than never, right?...LOL). I usually work out mid-morning around 9 or 10am. Although, if I have to go somewhere, I'll get up and do it first thing or if for some reason I don't get to workout in the morning....I'll do it in the afternoon (although, if I have to workout in the afternoon there's always the temptation not to do it, so I try to get my workout done and over with in the am)! I usaully tae-bo 5-6 days a week and I alternate advanced and basic days or I'll do something else (like running and weights)! How long have you been doing tae-bo? If you are just starting out.....take it slow and concentrate on proper form! Good luck! I look forward to hearing more from you

Speaking of AL7, I meant to mention this the other day cause I really liked it! I've been doing a basic tape and then the ab/butt work from AL7. I cue AL7 up to the sit ups and pop it in after the basic tape and I really like the combo! It ends up being about a 45-50 minute workout and the floorwork isn't TOO terribly difficult! It's a nice little workout! Anyway, just wanted to share that with y'all
