after doing 40 minutes of cardio. Take your time to work up to it.

You might try doing just the floor work one day or do the floor work

and the 8 minute or basic tape instead of tackling the entire

advanced tape. The soreness and cramps show that the floor work is

using muscles you are not used to using and that you need to use.

Once your muscles adjust to the floor work, I think you will be very

happy with the physical results. It can really tone your body. Hang

in there.

LOL, So, you picked up on the fact that I am a perfectionist huh...Yep, my

mother always told me I have that Type A personality..which has benefited me

in life, but has also been a real pain cuz If I can't do something 100pc I

get VERY frustrated with myself and down on myself..thats why everyones

advice is so helpful..It reminds me that I am just getting back into shape

and that I don't have to do it perfectly, that I can go at my own pace but

set a goal of getting better each day as I go along...I will take that advice

and stick to it and just do the best I can at my own pace..Thanks...You are

very perceptive!!!

You ARE the minority! LOL. I despise floorwork, but it does give good

results, so I keep doing it.

Hi Kathy,

I'm not a big fan of floorwork, but I have found that if I pace

myself and work at it slowly, I can conquer it. The way that I do it

(whenever I get the chance to do it) is that I don't start out trying

to do it all. If you try to do it all, you're going to wear yourself

out very quickly. If the group on the tape is doing 4-5 sets of a

move, I start out doing maybe 2 or 3 sets. Let your body, muscles,

and your mind get used to the moves. As you get stronger and feel

like you can do more, add 1 extra set at a time of the particular

move.

I found this out with the original version of Basic Live 1, which had

a few minutes of floorwork at the end. I couldn't do it all when I

first started that tape. Over the span of a month and a half, I

worked my way up and was eventually able to do the moves really

strong. It just takes a little time and patience with yourself.

Kathy,

You are definitely not a wimp! I hate floorwork, too! And, when I

first started doing the Advanced tape, I couldn't get through it,

either! In fact, there are still days when I have trouble with the

floorwork and I've been doing tae-bo for almost a year and a

half...LOL! There are some moves that can be modified, like the

roundhouse kicks to the side when you are on your knees. When I

first started, the only way I could do those was to go down on my

side! Also, like everyone else said, start off giving yourself

permission to do fewer sets than they do on the tape (that's one of

the toughest things for perfectionists like us to do....but it really

makes a lot of difference)! You will definitely notice improvements

in that area! The reason your butt is burning is cause you haven't

used those muscles in awhile...LOL! I remember the day I actually

felt my butt muscle (I think I even bragged about it here...LOL)

cause it was such a huge accomplishment for me! So, hang in there!

Even though it's tough and it really stinks while you are doing

it....you'll definitely get stronger and it's one area you will

definitely notice improvements :)

Montse,

I'd definitely say you are in the minority....LOL! I wish I could

say I loved floorwork :)

NO, you are not the minority. I love the floor work much better than the

cardio. I fel stronger after the floor work.

Kathy,

I see a lot of myself in the things you say, actually and I'm a big

time perfectionist :) I think we've struggled with many of the same

issues, and it's not so easy to change those old habits sometimes! We

are a little too hard on ourselves sometimes and we've got to learn

to give ourselves a break! Believe me, I've been there with the not

being happy unless I can do something 100%.....there are still days I

struggle with it, but I'm much kinder to myself these days and a

large part of that is due to the wonderful support I've gotten from

this group! I am much more likely these days to be proud of the

things I DID accomplish and less likely to focus on the things I

didn't....and that's a huge shift in thinking for me :)
