Guest guest
Don, I think I wasn't clear in the point I was making..It doesn't matter that "I" still exist even if "you" don't perceive me...This is not some existential philosophy to be debated...The relevant part is purely subjective...Your experience of you and your experience of "me" are both filtered and formed if you will via the process of your own story "you" and "me"...Your experience of all that is passes and arises in your perception as one unified field...thus it is not separate...Debate about whether I exist with or without your perception is pure philosophy and will not relieve suffering...But the awakened observation that "everything" is unified in your perception - that it is all a miror of the "story" you tell, will - Furthermore the observation that only the story of separation creates the experience of separation is pretty cool too...Without the story - self and not self - there is only pure perception of what is - words can only divide this - not contain it... Guest guest
Don, Upon further reflection, your feedback reminded me what happens when I try to make a religion or philosophy from what I notice as a result of asking the 4 questions...Thank you for reminding me of what happens when I do that by taking issue with my first post about separate existance...I was just trying to "be smart" and to get approval...LOL Live and learn,
Guest guest
How do you know...? Without Me You are Still There Okay, you only exist in my mind because my senses attended to your presence and therefore an image was formed of you in my mind. But, even if I wasn't there you would still exist. Prove it? No way, I just know you are there without me just as I know others are there that I haven't met yee. Does a tree make a sound when it hits the ground, even though no one is there to hear it? Absolutely! Can I prove it? No. Don't need to. There are many wonderful things I know but can't prove. Guest guest
john, is there a particular point you make in questioning what is, as it is to don? the questions seems a little antagonistic, even sniperish. i don't know that this is true, i admit that i am drawn to that intuition. can you carry the conversation a little further? what is in you, about don's statements? are you fighting don's statement? is it in love that you ask it? is it your way of asking for help with something ? do you make plans based upon the sun coming up tomorrow, and a new day, monday, starting? are you not assuming people will understand the words you speak, or write, or not run you over when you cross a street? to deny what is, and to deny what is to you, is to rush your own evolution, or to live life only flying over communities, never landing. steve " Christian " wrote: >How do you know...? > Without Me You are Still There > > > Okay, you only exist in my mind because my senses attended to your presence and therefore an image was formed of you in my mind. Guest guest
I was asking a question in relation to Don's statement about knowing. I make no assumptions about anything. I can only say that I exist. What can be known? What even is knowing? Without mind what can we know? To make assumptions is something I do on an surface level only because of years of practice. But even as I do I understand that there is no understanding. Life is contradiction. I guess to state that you know something which is of the mind is just a sure way of saying you don't know... Without Me You are Still There>>> Okay, you only exist in my mind because my senses attended to your presence and therefore an image was formed of you in my mind. Guest guest
Actually the tree makes no sound-it creates sound waves. The sound waves enter the ear and vibrate the ear drum etc etc. The experience in the brain is what we call sound. So without some kind of creature there is no sound. This is true all up and down the electromagnetic scale -there is no light in the universe without a creature to create it. the universe is " black " . Okay, you only exist in my mind because my senses attended to your presence and therefore an image was formed of you in my mind. But, even if I wasn't there you would still exist. Prove it? Guest guest
HAHAHA....this is such a funny response.....sometimes you guys crack me up. I know this is a serious reply but I found it a humorous response to the old does a tree make a sound if no one is there to hear it. Guest guest
Chuck, I know it's days ago now, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciated your post about trees, sound and light.
