I am wrong! You don't even have to send it back Kim! Just call and they

should send you out a new one!

Hi again and thanks for the warm welcomes! The problem is, is that someone

else gave me this tape well over a year ago (or whenever volume 1 advanced

came out), so I wasn't the original buyer of this tape. I've used it in the

past too, so I don''t know what happened. The spiral thing seems loose!

Well, I'll just hope that my al2 comes before 3-4 weeks! Does taebo usually

ship within 3-4 weeks, or is it usually sooner (yes, wishful thinking on my

part!!).

Hi . Yes, I ordered off the web last night. I was sort of hesitant

about putting my cc# out there, but I've done it with Amazon before, so I

thought it would be o.k. I sure hope it comes soon! I'm very excited. I am

starting a new workout rotation today, (it was supposed to be

yesterday.....but you know my problem!) so I'm just going to use my

PowerKicks tape in place of TaeBo til my new one arrives. I'll do that

tomorrow.

Wooo Hooo!! A week or two!! I'm excited! The Power Kicks tape is by

Lankford. It really is a good workout, but you have to ignore the two

background girls who are doing the workout with him. They are horrible! In

the beginning of the tape he does a great job at explaining and practicing

the moves, so you know what you are in for. I would say this tape is

intermediate. Harder than Taebo basic, yet not as hard as a taebo advanced.

Have you ever been over at www.videofitness.com? They have great avid

consumer reviews on almost any videotape out there. I used to be a exercise

video junkie when I could afford them. It was my way of keeping fit. But

since I am single now I am on a strict budget :-( LOL.

Kim

join it to save the $5 and just cancel it after one delivery!!

Also be aware that the first 3 Advanced from the Live series have been

replaced so you may not be getting the work-out you expected from reviews

Maybe you can call and tell the TB folks your tape broke and they can replace

it at a lower charge (for free if less than 30 days I think)

Barb

who had a tape break within its first week and replaced for free

Kim,

I didn't do Tae Bo until March 99 when I had lost about 60 of the 70

pounds. Up until that point, I had been doing step aerobics and

weight lifting. Then, I switched to Tae Bo exclusively the next

month. Since March 2000, I have alternated between doing Tae Bo and

taking boxing classes. They compliment each other well.

Regarding my WW experience, I allowed myself guilt-free digressions

from the program from time-to-time. I had lost (and regained) weight

before. It took me 14 months to lose 60 pounds. I had a 6-week

plateau, but I didn't let that daunt me. What made this weightloss

so different for me was that I became so involved in the process of

change, not how fast I would make it to my goal weight. In earlier

attempts to lose weight, I had failed to look around me and learn,

instead dashing as fast as I could to my " goal. " As a result, I

repeated old patterns, which lead to my regaining the weight I had

lost (and then some!).

Hang in there! You'll be amazed at how much you will change. There

might be day-to-day frustrations, but you'll overcome them!

;-)

Hey Kim!

Welcome to the group! I'm really behind on posting so sorry if this is late.

This is a great place for motivation and also for great reviews on tapes. I

can't really afford to buy tapes I won't use very much either so what I do is

wait until someone writes a review and if it's a tape I just have to have

I'll just order it. I use to subscribe but once I got all the taebo tv

workouts I figured I had enough variety. There seems to be a pattern as far

as my favorites go. I LOVE all of the even numbers. I don't do AL2 very

often despite the fact that it's an awesome tape. There's just too many reps

for me! As I get more comfortable with doing my own thing while is

doing something I hate it gets a lot easier for me. I guess I could probably

pick two as favorites.... AL4, AL8.... oh, and AL6. :) You do know that two

means three in taebo town, right? :) Good luck on your journey! I'm glad

you joined our family.

Hi Steph,

The SSRI's won't make your son walk around like a zombie. They will start out at

the lowest dosage and work there way up as needed.

My daughter is 12 and was diagnosed at age 5. She has been on Zoloft all this

time. We have had to raise it, but luckily for her, that med worked for the OCD

and is still working.

My son(7) , on the other hand was diagnosed at age 4, and has had to try several

different SSRI'S. They all stopped his thoughts, but he became very hyper on

them and we had to add other meds.

The thoughts don't all stop on meds alone though. It takes alot of therapy-CBT

and/or ERP. You mentioned your son was in therapy already, so you are off to a

great start.

Have you read any books yet. ? A good suggestion is " Freeing your child from

OCD " by Tamar Chansky, and another good one is " What to do when your child has

OCD " by Aureen Pinto Wagner " " Imp of the Mind " by Lee Baer is good for

explaining the " bad thoughts "

This is a very supportive group. You'll find lots of help here! We are all here

for you!!! Glad you joined!

Hugs

> Hi I would like to introduce myself.  My name is stephanie and i

have two children a daughter emily who is 15 and a son jacob who is

13.  My son is currently going to a counsler for the past month and

has been dx OCD.  Over the years he has had little quirks as we call

it but i guess over time its just become second nature to answer him

before he even asks the question.  Like when we leave the house he

will ask did you lock the door, I automatically now without thinking

will say I locked the door.  He has a nut allergy so whenever he eats

he will say does this have nuts in it.  even if its a bowl of friut.

However in Dec. he came to me and said he was hearing a voice in his

head that was bothering him.  He was worried that something bad was

gonna happen and he would turn into the tree man like we saw on tv or

a mold would go in him and would eat his face off like we had seen on

tv about a man who had that happen. because whenever he did something

> or didnt do something the voice would tell him something bad will

happen.  and he has developed a tick with his eyes that he squints his

eyes open and shut.  he looks like he is pain but he doesnt even

realize he is doing it.  this tick started back in dec. when he

started having these thoughts.  I took him to a counsler to see what

was going on and they have dx him OCD.  he is working on ignoring it

or he will come to me and ask me if something bad will happen we will

work out what he thinks bad will happen and the likelhood of it

happening.  He meets with a physichiastrist on the 19th and he will

more then likely go on meds.  I am worried about starting him on anti

depressants b/c i dont want him to walk around like a zombie, i want

him to be the same ole jacob just not being bothered with his thoughts

and worries.  What type of meds do your all kids take and how do they

affect them?  and any suggestions you all have that will help me, help

all suggestions!

Hi Becky, there are some homeschooling parents here who can comment.

When OCD is the main problem at school, usually we suggest working

with the school - as you've done - to get through the rough times but

you have much more than OCD going on. Homeschooling has been a good

solution for some kids.

Wow, actual fight! My was teased, made fun of, I know how

hard it is to know it's happening to your son. I was also picked on,

etc., growing up so it's a touchy subject with me, instantly wanting

to " get my hands on " the kids who bothered !

We live in a small city too. So all the kids at middle school are

the same kids who'd be in the high school. Luckily large enough that

there are many, many classes but still the same kids in the

population. It did get better in high school for . Kids

seemed to outgrow/mature the picking, etc., around 10th grade or so.

A bit better in 9th but more so as they got older. Wow again, if

there'd been an actual physical fight, whew, not sure how I'd have

handled that!!!!!

I did let the principal and the teachers know that was being

teased, made fun of. They weren't aware of it (they said) but I let

them know I was. (I didn't hear about any of this from , by

the way, but from his twin.) The schools in the US are supposed to

have anti-bullying programs, and that includes harassment (sp?). You

could pursue this, look at it as not just helping your son but also

others. Do you think any of the problems, why he's picked on, are

due to his OCD behaviors or other?

How is he with other kids? You mentioned he can be annoying, but

just " how " is he doing that? Talking too much, making odd comments

(odd compared to the typical/average kids his age), asking too many

questions in class, talking too much to others when trying to make

friends...?

What are his OCD behaviors? began with compulsions and

rituals, in 6th grade. Presently (now age 20) those are long gone,

and it's mainly bad thoughts.

Welcome, Becky.

So sorry to hear what your son is going through. I think that fight

would be a " deal breaker " for me. :o( Bullying is bad enough, but

when it turns physical, that is really bad. I don't know of any adult

who goes to work and has to put up with being bullied and beat up, so

no kid should have to cope with that, daily, either. :o(

We are on our 10th year of homeschooling, although this year our son

is attending a 2 1/2 hour computer programming class, daily, outside

the home, which he drives to. And taking another online class in the

evenings. He does the rest of his school work at home though. We

started when he was in second grade, with a school situation that

quickly became a nightmare. Not because kids were picking on him.

..They liked him, but rather, shamefully, because one of his teachers

was picking on him. Homeschooling has been a blessing for us,

although I do realize it is not for everyone.

He didn't have any trouble adapting to a school setting, but rather,

is excelling there.

If you have any homeschool questions, you can email me personally.

Glad you found us, Becky.
