yes it will improve with time but for now I would suggest pacing yourself

more so you have more left thru-out the work-out

be careful of pushing your heartrate too high for too long

remember , most folks doing these work-outs started at a much younger age

SLOW it down and walk it out more

Barb

who finds it better to do 30 minutes at a comfortable pace than getting

pooped halfway

hi barb,

i think that's my problem. becuz i AM capable of doing the reps at the rate

everyone else is going, that's what i've been doing.

i'll try 1/2 time and then extend my time to 30 min.

thanks, buddy ...

hi shannon ...

with guys like you and barb in my corner, how can i NOT improve.

barb said exactly the same thing ... slowing down the pace will increase the

time doing the actual workout.

thanks .... i feel as tho i have personal coaches ... how cool ...

hi .... i'm 57 and can do about 13-15 of basic live before i find that i'm

losing focus 'cuz i can't catch my breath and it's getting harder to do

stuff.

i can't lift my leg as high as i cld ... and i can't do as many reps as i

did

earlier.

i kno ... you seasoned vets are chuckling ... aren't you ...

15 min. is NOT a lot of time, i kno, but i' REALLY new at this.

, you are doing just fine. It takes everyone a little time to build

up stamina and strength. You have to be careful, however, not to push

yourself too hard when you are exhausted. If you are so tired that you start

to lose your good form, you risk injury and don't get the full benefits of

the workout. You could slow down the entire workout, e.g., by doing regular

instead of double time, or by walking it out more. Just be sure that you

don't exercise past the point of exhaustion so that you don't hurt yourself.

We all have been where you are. You can do this. Just be patient.

Of course you will improve w/ time..don't be too hard on yourself..have you

done the Instructional Tape first before starting the basic? If not, I would

recommend that cuz it shows you how to do the moves properly so you don't

hurt yourself and its a workout in itself!!! When I first started the basic,

I sweated profusely and found the moves very hard especially the leg lifts..I

was also very clumsy, falling and such and felt..well uncoordinated...Now

almost 4wks later, the basic is almost getting too easy for me..I can do the

leg lifts, although occassionally I have to hold onto something to do the

roundhouse kicks..but overall, I've finally got it down and don't seem to

lose my breath quite as quickly...Again, go at your own pace, if you can't do

the double time moves do it 1/2time..beside any movement is a start in the

right direction..so, don't give up..give it time...Kathy

what I do is vary the intensity and speed cuz if I did all of the reps with

the speed, I push my heartrate up way too high so I compromise and do most of

the sets halftime or normal time and do just one or two sets of 8 at the

doubletime. Just pay attention to your breathing and check your heartrate if

unsure.

For 57, you want the number of heartbeats during 10 seconds to be in the

range of 18-23 to be working-out at your target heartrate

if below 18, increase your intensity

if above 23, slow it down but not suddenly

never just stop cold turkey (keep walking)

Barb

who can practically guess where my heartrate is within one count from how I'm

breathing

You will definitely become more fit, the more you continue to do tae-

bo and you will find that you are able to do more and more of the

tape, until one day you will actually surprise yourself by doing the

whole thing! 15 minutes is great :) Don't feel like you aren't

doing anything, cause you are definitely getting a good workout! I'd

suggest trying to pace yourself a little more and maybe try to do the

moves with a little less intensity so that you aren't so out of

breath! Maybe skip the double times for now and really concentrate

on your form and how you are breathing throughout the workout! If

you find yourself getting too out of breath, just press pause and

walk it out for a few minutes, then push play and get right back into

the workout! Or, just go ahead and walk it out while you're doing

the workout and get back into it whenever you can! Hang in there!

You can do this and you will get better and better the more you do

it :) Good luck!
