Hi - could you please schedule another one of these in Eugene sometime in late June so that my die-hard environment 18 year old and I can attend while we are looking for her housing accomodations for school there next year????? haha

What a great venue for this! I am so excited for her to be going there for college.

Kirby, author of the upcoming book “Animal Factory: The Looming Threat of Industrial Pig, Dairy and Poultry Farms to Humans and the Environmentâ€, (St. ’s Press, March 2, 2010), will be one of two Keynote Speakers at the 2010 Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC) on Saturday, February 27, at 7:00 PM , in Eugene , Oregon .

PIELC, the “world’s most important environmental law conference,†according to organizers, takes place on the University of Oregon campus from February 25-28.

At the conference, Kirby will also appear with environmental attorney tte Hahn Niman at a panel discussion on Friday, February 26, at 3:45 PM titled, “The Poop on Factory Farms: Lawyers and Citizens Take on Big Ag’s Pollution.†It will be moderated by environmental attorney Charlie Tebbutt, who represented CARE, a group of Yakima Valley residents, in their Clean Water Act lawsuits against mega-dairies in Washington State , as detailed in ANIMAL FACTORY.

Kirby and Tebbutt were interviewed on the Eugene NPR affiliate, KLCC-FM, for the “Northwest Passages†program with Mac. It will air at 4:00PM PST on Wednesday, March 24, and can be heard here.
