I can't speak for other schools but I have always just gone in. Last month

at our parent meeting I went early so I could see the Speech Therapist

working with Trisha. I didn't let them know I was coming early. Sometimes, if

we

are in the area we stop by just to see how she is doing in general.

She isn't typical, She's Trisha!

We have always had more of an open door policy at all schools I have been too.

If I am

doing some " watching " or really need the teacher I make it a point to call

before and set up

some time that is good... but other then that, If I need to say drop something

off while

dropping Reece off for kindy, I just walk in and they are ok. I have never tried

to abuse

that or take too much of their time if I am just walking in and I have never had

a problem.

And we have been at ALOT of schools and have had ALOT of teachers over the

years.

I hear stories nowadays like you are saying though.. that there really isn't an

" open door

policy " and we need to call first, set appts, ect... and some schools actually

discourage it.

SO SAD isn't it??

Hi all,

Hey honey,

No, all schools do NOT have an open door policy. Melmark does not.

BUT, I ignore that....COMPLETELY. I even enter from the gym, so no one in the

front offices knows I'm there. So sue me!!!! Now you have to realize

that Maddie goes to an APS school (approved private school). But they

request *notice* when parents come. Never, in 7 years, have I given notice.

Nor do I ever intend to. NO, I dont' think anything is wrong....I just like

having that capacity, and think as a parent, I SHOULD. Honestly, for ALL

my other kids who are basically NDA (don't get me started), I DID pop in.

Hell, the *popping in* is the ONLY thing that clued me in when Maddie's

behaviors were completely out of whack. That puts me in a different position

than you and Seth, because of the public school thing. Still, Gail, you're

sweet enough, you can pull it off. Pretend you didn't know about

*policy*.....YES, I'm a bad girl!!!!
