It really is interesting how different words set different people off. I

personally PREFER the retarded word. My son is retarded - he learns very

slowly, but he does learn. I find " intellectually deficiant " or

" cognitively impaired " to be disingenuous and insulting because those

phrases indicate to me that he CAN'T learn.

I guess what ever rocks the boat. Just another view point.
