Another cover up by the mainstream media. The latest issue of WDDTY a british publication notes that the latest INDEPENDANT study shows mobile phones have a HUGE increase in brain cancers. J clinical Oncology , 2009, Oct 13 The younger you are when you start and the longer the use the more the risk. Common sense really.

Mobile phones: DNA damage discovered

Explosive new evidence from a number of quarters shows that cell-phone radiation causes permanent damage to the DNA in cells, even with infrequent use. Things have been hotting up since our October 2006 report on the dangers of WiFi and mobile phones (WDDTY vol 17 no 7). Finally, even the official scientific government advisors are having to acknowledge the potential for harm from these wireless technologies. It’s partly in response to the sheer volume of adverse published reports in the research literature (see box below), but it’s also because there’s now a plausible mechanism for the dangers. From the days 25 years ago, when a mobile phone was the size of a large brick—and cost nearly its weight in gold to buy one—nowadays, over two billion people around the world own a mobile. That’s one-third of the world’s population. This explosive uptake of mobile phones has been called “the largest human ......

Long-term use of cellular phones and brain tumours: increased risk associated with use for > or =10 years.

AIM: To evaluate brain tumour risk among long-term users of cellular telephones. METHODS: Two cohort studies and 16 case-control studies on this topic were identified. Data were scrutinised for use of mobile phone for > or =10 years and ipsilateral exposure if presented. RESULTS: The cohort study was of limited value due to methodological shortcomings in the study. Of the 16 case-control studies, 11 gave results for > or =10 years' use or latency period. Most of these results were based on low numbers. An association with acoustic neuroma was found in four studies in the group with at least 10 years' use of a mobile phone. No risk was found in one study, but the tumour size was significantly larger among users. Six studies gave results for malignant brain tumours in that latency group. All gave increased odd ratios (OR), especially for ipsilateral exposure. In a meta-analysis, ipsilateral cell phone use for acoustic neuroma was OR = 2.4 (95% CI 1.1 to 5.3) and OR = 2.0, (1.2 to 3.4) for glioma using a tumour latency period of > or =10 years. CONCLUSIONS: Results from present studies on use of mobile phones for > or =10 years give a consistent pattern of increased risk for acoustic neuroma and glioma. The risk is highest for ipsilateral exposure.

Large, 30-year Scandinavian study shows no connection"

Gee, but did they look at the possibility of cell-phone radiation screwing with the immune system and thus re-activating viruses in the brain - which.. don't I recall something about HSV-1 and brain tumors? Or was it Alzheimer's? Or both? Or HHV-6 definitively linked to something? So hard to keep all these suppressed herpes viruses straight and what various kinds of havoc they can cause if they become 'un-suppressed'..
