Thanks, Lois Hi Lois, Maddie has been on abilify for 3 years, after one year of risperdal. We've had no side effects from it. Dr. Capone switched her because we started seeing some negative behaviors with risperdal. Initially, the risperdal was fabulous. The head-banging stopped, the *jumping out of her skin* stopped, and she suddenly was much more lucid. We could see a clearness in her eyes....it was amazing. After going to the abilify, it was the same, so nothing new, but no negative behaviors. Dr. Capone has explained to me that abilify is very similar to risperdal, but is considered the *smarter* drug.
