Guest guest
I am just sick. I heard on the news tonight that my local DS support group, DSACO (DS Association of Central Ohio) had $200,000 stolen by the former treasurer. I don't know the woman personally, but she had been in charge of things like the Buddy Walk (which is the reason DSACO had so much money) and I guess had been helping herself to it, spending it all along. She is the mother of three kids, I think, and her 11 year old has DS. It saddens me just as much to think about how all of this is going to played out by the press. Our current officers decided to hold a press conference as a group WITH THEIR KIDS. Unfortunately already, one reporter said, " In the end, the children with DS will be the biggest losers. " Just great! What a big mess. I hope all not-for-profits look carefully at their system of checks and balances with regard to their funds and books and who has access to them. Beyond that, human nature is frail. Beth Mum to Pete (AKA Ben) age 15++++ central Ohio (Columbus and vicinity)
