Guest guest
Hi there. Does anyone on this list have experience with depression in their children with DS/ASD? We have been trying different meds the last 6 months for my 10 year old son Corey, under the advice of Dr. Capone at KKI, mostly for anxiety due to severe sensory integration disorder. But nothing has had a lasting or impressive effect. We just got back from our yearly beach vacation where my son had melt down after melt down and had no interest at all in going in the pool or beach. He was oppositional and irritable over EVERYTHING and made us all miserable. He seems very unhappy despite our best efforts to " lift his spirits " . Despite his multitude of dislikes and sensitivities, he has always loved the beach and pool. We try to be very astute about his health to rule out physical causes and he doesn't seem to be dealing with any health issues right now that would erode his behavior. He's always been a moody guy, but this is an extreme, and what we've been dealing with a lot the past year. I'm wondering if depression isn't the primary issue right now. I'm appreciate any thoughts or experiences from this group. Thanks so much. Amy
