Shoe out the window

Yesterday as we were driving home from school, I noticed that 's shoe was

half off of his foot. I don't know how he did it as he has AFO's - it's not

easy to just slip out of a shoe. Anyway, he somehow got his window down, I

swear I thought the child lock was on. I agreed to go the fresh air route and

he was enjoying it. I then said to my daughter, " Just make sure he doesn't

throw his shoe out the window - LIKE HE JUST DID! " Boom, the shoe is gone -

we're on a really busy 2 lane road with nowhere to pull over. I did a drive by

twice, looking for the shoe - didn't see it. Then after I got through my son's

JV soccer game and my daughter's Rec Soccer Game, I decided I'd pull into a

driveway and get out and look. So there I am at 8pm as it's just about super

dark out, dressed in all dark clothes, walking the side of the road looking for

the shoe! I was fearing for my life, envisioning myself being hit by a car. I

didn't see it but I saw a dead racoon! Then

when I tried to turn the rig around to get back onto the road, rather then

backing out into traffic - I GOT STUCK! That's when I'm thankful for 4 wheel

drive. Just as I'm heading out the driveway, the people who live there are

trying to turn into their own driveway! Thank goodness they didn't arrive 3

minutes earlier when I was sideways in their driveway!!!!

So, I'm off this morning to go look for the damn shoe! He wore rain boots to

the soccer games last night! Luckily, I had a pair of shoes in his closet that

I had bought at Payless - that he hadn't worn yet, otherwise he'd be wearing the

rainboots to school! He only had one pair of shoes!

That's how my evening unfolded, and you? LOL!

We've had hats go out the window too but those have been easier to recover.

Hopefully this won't be an 4-5 year thing, you poor thing!

I guess there's just too much window available. I need to double check that

child lock on the windows more I guess! The joy's of raising kids!

HIs AFO's have a velcro strap across, they take a bit to get off. HIs AFO was

still on, he just somehow got the shoe off! Thank goodness it wasn't the AFO or

I would've come to a screaching halt - busy street or no busy street! LOL!

Hi Jayne,

I was off to a very difficult meeting today but sat at the computer for a few

minutes to get my stress relief from the list before I walked out the door. Your

post was just the good laugh I needed, thanks. My brother, 52 today, had the

shoe out the car window move down to a science. I can remember my parents parked

on the roadside many Sundays looking for the other shoe. We took many Sunday

drives in those days. I often wondered why they never took his shoes away while

we were driving. My oldest son's shoes spent more time in my purse than on his

feet.

I found the shoe this morning!!! I went and parked the car and walked up and

Been there MANY times Jayne. Maddie's favorite thing to do. Her cab

Sunday drives....remember those? Back then, we didn't have so much on our " To

Do " list and could actually get out and " explore " .

Did your brother get any " payback " from his kids?

I remember my sister's pillow going out the window on the highway on a car

trip. She was hysterical, and my parents were soooo mad! I think they stopped

and got it, don't remember for sure though - my sister's hysterical act is

etched in my mind though but not what happened with the pillow - funny!

We have the same problem with buttons and knobs in our vehicles as well.

Tori uses her toes to open the door or play with the window. We always have

to make sure they are locked.
